Default New to engine building

What's up gang! I'm new to the LS world but not new to broken bolts in hard to reach places. I recently reignited my 1989 z28 engine swap project and settled on an L83 core for the project. I had come across an l83 with lifter "noise" for $500 so I figured why not grab it and at least learn on it regardless. My goal for the L83 is something near 500HP at the crank and put that in the camaro. I'm going to spending the next few weeks/months/years reading up on terminology because it is overwhelming all the information out there!.

I disassembled the l83 and found broken lifters, cooked push rods and a cam with 4 lobes mechanically modified. So im thinking Ill make a build thread and add pictures to get your guys opinions!
