Default New guy here...

Hello all. Been reading this forum for a few years so thought it was time to join. 3 years ago I picked up a 96 RS convert with intentions of LS swaping it. My thought was "hey, they came with ls1 from the factory, should not be hard to swap 3800 to ls...." yea, found out its quite a lot of work but I enjoyed every bit of it. Well until I cooked the bearings in the first motor after 50 miles and had to start over. oh well, been fun and lover the car. (ignore the not so clean engine bay, still not done with it).

Welcome! Nice swap You need an LS1 lower box and lid to get the most out of your combo. I'll have one for sale soon, I'm going turbo on mine and no longer need it.

Thanks. It's been fun.... well most of the time. Yea I hate how the air intake is just sitting there and honestly that has been the hardest thing to find placement for due to the ABS modular on one side and the battery on the other. I have looked for the LS1 air box but honestly don't know if it would fit under this style hood ( I assume it would as it's just another 4th gen). Any way, I got rid of the stock coolant over flow tank and going to be mounting the battery in the trunk where the lack of spare tire goes. Once I to that I will be piping the filter down to where the original coolant overflow was.

I dont have the lid but I do have the lower piece to the air box sitting in my garage.

With the switch to procharger and standing up the radiator I removed it.
Not sure what shipping would be to get it your way

Thanks for the offer but I will have to pass. I am looking into doing the same and standing the radiator and going either procharger or turbo. I'm torn between the two.

Of Course! I see pros and cons for both. I made the procharger difficult on myself by wanting to place it up top instead of down below like the brackets come for these cars.
I will say that turbos can be done way cheaper! LOL

Really, and here I thought that the turbo would be harder due to the plumbing. However, I don't have to do emissions on the car so I could just dump the exhaust out by the front tire

Same here in MN. Not having to worry about emissions makes life easy!

once I moved the battery to the rear and stood the radiator up you have all the room in the world for activities!

I've got a Huronspeed truck manifold kit and it's great. I mocked it up and everything fits really well. I'm going to do a stand up radiator but I'm keeping my battery up front.
