Yet ANOTHER Newbie Hey guys. My name is Will and I am from Jersey. I recently inherited a 1993 K1500 when my father in law passed away. I am restoring it. I was lucky enough to come across a "FREE" LY6 motor that needs rebuild. I see quite a few options for engine management, but they all seem to require removing the VVT. I don't have an issue with that. I found plenty of articles that explain most of it. Mostly seems like a cam swap along with cam gear, cover and cam sensor. The one article says to use a 12638427, LS9 cam. Question that I have there is, what about the lifters? What about springs? Am I good with stock ones? Another question that is blowing my mind...I know that the LY6 is Gen 4. But when I am looking for parts, I don't see an LS4 listed anywhere. What should I be looking for? And what is everyone using for engine management? I see the Holley setup, I also see the Ace's. I see some people use a stock E38 computer and TCM. What direction do you guys recommend? I am currently running a 5.7 TBI motor backed by a 4L60E transmission with a manual shift transfer case. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
