Welcome. You can start by searching and reading in the conversions and hybrids forum. You might want to get in touch with Arce's Engines in Santee who do a lot of LS stuff.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I heard these LS swaps were easy and cheap. I'll contact Arces but I'm sure theyll charge like $10k to do a swap. I'm on a budget like the type that can only afford a pick your part LS engine. My issue is getting step by step instructions for 63 Impala and which engine I should get. There are tons of LS swap videos for other cars but none that are intended for a beginner.

The thing is, just about any pick-a-part engine you pull is going to need to be gone through unless you find a super low mileage example. That's where Dave Arce can help; I'm not suggesting that he do the entire swap. But if he could do it for $10k, that'd be a steal. In any case, he'd be good to consult with.

To say that LS conversions are easy and cheap is to harbor a misconception. There is A LOT involved. Are there LS motor mounts available for a 63 Impala or will you have to fab them? What operating system will you use? Will your motor have AFM/DOD? What reluctor speed will it have? What kind of transmissions will be compatible and how will it mount up? And on and on and on ...
