Excited to be here!
Hey everyone, I just picked up a 1997 C5 Corvette a few weeks ago and am excited to start my journey with this thing. It's my first V8 project car, I came from the world of turbo 4 cylinders, and so far this has been so much easier to work on, but I'll be tackling a hard job soon since it needs a new crank pulley and I'm sure after that I might not think it's so simple anymore. But, for now I'm glad that the intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, pcv valve, knock sensors, valley cover gasket and some other things have all been pretty easy and straightforward compared to VW's and Subies I've had before.
After buying the car I learned the 1997 C5 has a bit of a unique (the worst
) LS1 with 9 bolt valve covers, supply and return lines on the fuel rail, worst intake manifold, etc. I joined this forum looking for a LS6 intake manifold if anyone has one they don't want hit me up! Also joined, looking to learn more about the LS1 platform and gain a bunch of knowledge, because I think when I do the crank pulley I might do a cam, valve springs, rockers, push rods, etc so I can make this old girl a little angrier!
Thanks for having me,
James
