Newbie from RSA
I live in Johannesburg South Africa and am currently 54 years old. (Or I'm on level 54 of life as I prefer calling it). I have always loved the sound of V8's. That love came from my stepdad at a very young age. Every time without fail, if we stopped at a traffic light or stop sign and a V8 was near, it would be radio off, (Windows were already down as no aircon in those years) and he would state clearly "Just listen to this!".
Unfortunately, due to varying reasons we were never in the financial position to purchase a V8 - and it stayed a love and dream of his for years.
He unfortunately passed away in 2020.
Then at the end of 2024 I managed to get my hands on a Chevrolet Lumina UTE with an LS1 engine. Much to my wife's dismay I am slowly but surely fixing it up to the way that I want it as I plan to drive it until I am no more. The engine is still in very good condition, so the changes I am making are mainly cosmetic. Repairing a ripped seat, changed the radio as the old original was an ornament, changed the tyres as the others were over 7 years old and so on.
That raw power when it starts and idles, then the angry growl of the engine as you accelerate into the higher rev range is something that is difficult to describe.
I hope to learn a lot here as I am totally new to the V8 scene.
Thank you for this opportunity.
