Default Newbie Inside...

I'm new to the site but I think a few of you guys out there know me already. I got to see Nineball's tail lights a couple times at the track.

Anyways, my interest in here is that I've come across a 6.0 from a '03-'04 truck. My engine knowledge is basically old school and haven't kept up with the latest generation of small blocks. My soon to be better half wants build a project car for her and I can pick up this 6.0 liter. I don't know much about LS1s but this 6.0 looks to have LS1 heads with an iron block. I'm guessing its the 6000 vortec which I don't know if they are the same as the LS# or what.

lol, like I said, I'm limited to the new engines.

*edit. the search isn't working but I've been cruising around and found the answers. I guess I'll pick the engine up.

Well I picked up the engine today. Found a '70 vette rolling chassis (project) today too so I'll see if the Wife wants that.

Sounds like you have a fun project on your hands. Welcome to the site. Anyhelp you need can be found on this board. You already live in the state that owns LS1Tech. Those guys are very nice when it comes to helping someone out.

Here are some pics.

Looks like they drove the hell out of it without changing the oil. The plugs looked okay. This was supposed to be out of an '03 but I don't know with all that crude. It does have 317 on the right side of the heads. I'll have to finish tearing it down to see if it has any damage or just worn smooth out.

What I thought was weird is the missing of the tranny mount hole where older engines had one. First time I had to re-position my engine stand.
