I will start with this. Would it be worth it to buy a 98-02 V6 car and then transplant a LS1? I don't like the idea of having T-Tops and most of the cars around my area are V6's with hardtops. That way I could start with a fresh motor and possibly put in a tubular K-member. Thanks for the help and be prepared for more questions.

If you could get the V6 cheap enough. Look into having a LS1 put into a V6 as far as the cost, it's pretty steep, expecially when you could get into a Z28 for not much more and need little work.

everyone is going to tell you not to do it. I am going to do a transplant on a 94 3.4. If I had to do it again, I would have done it on a 99+ V6. If you are going to build up a an engine then I'd say its advisable. If you just want a stock 346, it may be a lot of work.

THe reason I say this is because for me, I was replacing everything anyway:Engine, trans, control arms, K member, PHR, Brakes, rear end...and since I am 93-97, I also have to change out tank, dash and other things.

One other thing to consider. THe hardtops are built on T Top chassis. THe roof is actually made for t tops. I forget if the roof is fiberglass or steel, but under that, its already for t tops.

I was thinking the same as you at first (because I come from a 3rd gen back ground where the t tops and verts WERE weaker). but I seen some guys on here with T tops and verts in the 8s & 9s in the quarter...

'93-'97 are steel roof. But, just a panel over the t-top roof. (Had a '93 V6) Don't know about '98-'02. I was gonna do the same thing cause I loved my '93. But, then I found an SS. All the money you'd spend on conversion could buy a lot of mods for a Z28. Just my $0.02 - Welcome to the site.
