Default high expectations

Hey everyone I just bought a 99 ls1/4L60E driveline from a junk yard and have been looking for info on how to swap it into a 1'st gen camaro. I'm having a hard time believing that it is as easy as some say it is. It came out of a 99 trans am and I was able to hear it run before I bought it, and it sounded really strong. No clues so far if anyone did any engine mods so it looks like it's stock. any info on the cheapest parts with the most power gain?
I hear that the LSx manifold or ls6 manifold help and a cam is a great start.

Good bolt ons:

LS6 intake, aftermarket airbox, ported throttle body, LT headers (Coated if you're on a budget/stainless if you want the best).

****That being said****

Since you bought an auto, before doing any of that, i'd make sure you put in an aftermarket high stall torque converter. That single $500-$800 mod alone has allowed gains of .8 to a full second provided you have traction (probably more than all those other mods combined would net you).

thanks everyone! It's amazing how much knowledgable tech support is available here. Project update: i'm picking up the engine/trans tomorrow that was the easiest $1500.00 i have ever spent. I'm supposed to get all wiring and computer and all accessories too so it's supposed to be ready to use. I guess we'll see tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have some questions for the gen III tech crew right away.

welcome, and good luck with your conversion. a cam and heads combo really does open these up, but i'd do all the bolt ons first. any questions you ever have feel free to ask on the boards. welcome to the site man.

Does there happen to be a forum or a sticky somewhere dealing with how to hook up the ignition to a oem computer? such as a pinout or something? I was wondering what hoops I would have to jump through to get the '68 ignition wiring to talk to the 99 ls1 computer. also is there going to be trouble codes or anything to deal with? I did look for this topic but if I missed it let me know thanks.
