New guy saying hi
here stopping in to say hi.First a little about me. I am very happily married with a 13 yr old daughter, and 11 year old son, and a 15 year old stepson. I live in Southern California, in Riverside county, in a horsetown called Norco. The horse population here is supposed to be higher than the people population
I work as a newspaper printing press mechanic. My background is heavy industrial maintenance, as well as fabrication/welding.
My current vehicle, which is the reason I joined this site, is a 65 Corvette convertible. I would like to install an LS (1, 2, or 6) version engine in it. At first I was going to go with a 425HP 383 crate motor, then I thought it would be cheaper to build my own 383 stroker, with AFR heads, and aftermarket FI. Now I am leaning towards an LS engine instead. It just seems like the most reliable cost effective thing to do.
Several years ago, I installed an 88 Vette TPI engine, in my now ex wifes
65 Nova wagon. It was a challenge, and also a lot of fun, fabricting things, and getting all of the electronics dialed in, and getting it running. I feel I am up to the challenge to do the same again, with even newer technology, in my Vette.I will do a lot of archive searches, to hopefully keep me from asking a lot of stupid
questions. Ideally I would like to see 425 to 450 HP, which I assume is easily achievable with these engines. My main concerns are, will I be able to use my Tremec TKO600 5 speed behind it (stock 60's bellhousing) and getting the ECM dialed in (aftermarket chip, or ECM) to make it all work together. Also can an LS1 be stroked to a 383?thanks in advance for all the help.
