Default LS1 and Kit Car

My son and I have just started to work on a kit car, the Factory Five GTM: http://www.factoryfive.com/table/ffr...TM/GTMkit.html.

We have our donor car, a wrecked 2000 Corvette and are busy disassembling it and prepping the LS1 engine.

This forum has been a tremendous source of valuable information to us already. We couldn't be more grateful for all the smart, experienced people posting here.

Thanks!

Thanks. Yeah, the stock C5 is no slouch so a stock LS1 engine pushing a much lighter car should be pretty quick.

That thing's DED SECKSY!!!

Surprised you don't go with an LS2 402 with L92 heads and L76 intake, though. Same weight, basically. You can stll use the other donor parts too, as far as I know. *shrug*

An LS2 + L92 + L76 would have been a great engine choice.

We actually wound up buying a second LS1 engine from a Detroit area tuner. It had low mileage, a nice build list (425 rwhp), and the price was reasonable.

My wife thinks we're insane and she's probably right, but we're having a good time.

Thanks for the kind words. Since there was some interest in the project, I've started a thread over in the Conversions and Hybrids section, "Kit Car Build with an LS1." I'll post info there as we move along in the project.

That is the point of a project like this with your son. I enjoyed working on car projects with my dad, and I will enjoy them with my son.
