Not sure where else to post this question, but with my dad retiring soon, and having always wanted a Corvette his whole life, I was wondering a few things.

He really likes the new C6 Corvette in that Copper color. He is also a HUGE Camaro fan, having always bought one because he couldn't afford the Vette.

I think the only reason why he would be interested in the new Camaro is because of its preliminary photos and that it will be similiar to what Ford did with the Mustang. From what I can tell, it will be a little less "retro" and a little more futuristic looking.

I kinda want to surprise him with something once he retires in March, but would it be best to wait and see what the Camaro does indeed look like and ask him what he wants.

Also, I'd like to settle a score with a friend of mine who owns a bone stock 2006 ZO6. I own a 1984 Monte Carlo with a 87 Grand National drivetrain, I run consistent 11.3-5's with it with pump gas, Alky, and drag radials. Unfortunately, getting the car to hook on street tires (especially close to the stock width), is very hard. But I can run into the 11's with street tires. With tires as wide as the Vette, I think it would be an even race.

He thinks his Vette can whoop me with pump gas and street tires. Having spent $8000 total on my car, and him spending $80,000, I think it only fair he give me 10-1 odds,... Don't you guys?

Granted the Vette weighs 600 lbs. less, but with street tires I think I can take him. I have beaten a 2001 ZO6 with drag radials. And stayed nose for nose with a 2003 ZO6 with street tires. But this newest ZO6 has over 505 horsepower, so I'm not so sure.

Believe it or not, my Monte with the little turboed V6 has more torque than hp. Having never dynoed it, I cannot say for sure what the ratings are, but its a torquey little motor. My best time has been 11.01 @ 125.38 with a different intercooler and bigger injectors. Its a true street car and currently gets almost 30 mpg out of a 3600 lb. car. Not too shabby . Not how to get my Monte to handle like a Vette . Not in this lifetime..

Personally I have always liked the Corvette much better than the Camaro.

Well the new Vette runs a (3.5) 0-60 and a (11.5) 1/4 mile. I think the newer technology might be an advantage towards him but thats my opinion.
