Default New from KY

I just recently bought my first LS1 car (1998 Trans am 6 speed). I joined this site hoping to learn more and get a few questions answered b/c I really dont know much about the f body platform and how it responds to what mods, and what mods are best. Here are a couple of pics of it, and I'll put my questions below, hopefully you guys/gals can help.

The car has 90k miles. For now, I plan to do a 4.10 gear, 125 wet shot, tune, possibly underdrive pulley and maybe even a cam. I dont wanna tear into the motor until it really needs it. My questions are: What brand gear is best? How much do the stock pos units stand up to? Any particular nitrous setup that's prefered (not direct port)? How much is to be gained from underdrive pulleys? (just trying to figure out if it's worth the cash for what i'm doing) Is there a cam that works well with nitrous and gives decent power gain without having to change springs, etc?

Nice to be here, I just kinda switched over from honda-tech as my last "weekend" car was an 11 second turbo'd integra...

You will not be able to change a cam without changing the springs. There several different brands of gears I could not begin to tell you which ones are best. I went with a Moser 9" with 3.89 gears. Springs and cam changes are really not too bad to be honest. The hardest part is the springs. Nice car BTW, where are you from in KY I am up in Frankfort.

I'm in northern KY, near maysville. I may just stick with the tune/nitrous/gear so I dont have to open the motor up at all, but I'm not sure yet.... I wanna keep the stock rear end for now, until I build a motor later on
