Cool Hi (beware 56k)

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I'm buying a roller 1995 TA for so cheap that I couldn't help myself. I'm in King George VA and I have quite a project brewing.

I already have the LS1 brakes/K member/sway bar from a Car-B-Q'd Camaro SS, and now it's time to decide what engine combo to put in:

383 LT1 and keep the A4

LS1/T56

Why do all this? I like the looks of the '93-'97 TA's more than the '98-2002 ones, and the sky's the limit here. I can build a nice 383 stroker, and I get all the parts to the LT1 but the long block, so a 383 swap is easy. Or, I can break bad and swap in the LS1 from a later donor and go 402 in the future.

As it sits, it has a good body, good tan interior, 4.11 gears, and recently rebuilt 4L60E.

After lurking a while helping my friend determine options for his 1992 LT1 Vette, the knowledge here is well worth registering and hanging around more.

If anyone has a donor vehicle, we need to talk :-)
Leather equipped LS1/6M TA would be perfect~!

Welcome! That's a nice looking T/A you got there. Obviously the LS1/M6 would be a helluva combo, but it sounds like the LT1/A4 build would get you rolling a lot quicker (and cheaper!). I'd get her on the road for now, and start saving for your dream combo afterwards...

Either way, good luck.

I'm a huge advocate of the LS motors. I'd definately say go LS. WAY more potential with alot less effort. I've seen bolt on cars run mid to low 12's and a shot of N2o put them in the mid 11's or you can do a baby cam and run high 11's all day long with a good tune. If you have the ability to go this route do it. You will not be disappointed. Also talk to Bruce Hawkins at Hawks Third Gen parts he's almost always got LS1 drivetranes laying around waiting to be sold and put in someone's project.

Welcome to the site

That is a great looking trans am especially for the year! I love the ls1 powerplant and believe it to be a better starting point than the lt1! Although a 383 car would be sweet! Its ultimately your decision and you have to decide what you really want! I'm sure most on here will say the ls1 swap is the way to go and i agree, but do what makes you happy! Either way great looking car and looks like an awesome project!

That's kinda my thinking at the moment. The friend will have a worn but running LT1 that I can put in for basically free, but I'd re-gasket and change all the seals in it before I dropped it in. That way I can wait on the perfect deal.
