Newbie ss monte carlo hey my name is danny im new to the site, from the bay area california.i have a 1988 monte carlo ss, and a 1979 el camino ss. i recently purchaced a ls1 out of a 2001 firebird. little did the person who sold it to me know that it was a 243 casting number ls6 block! got a complete 40k long block and water pump for 800. anyways i plan on building it up for a twin turbo set up in my monte carlo. i currently go to wyotech in sacramento i do upholstery on the side and am starting my own interior buisness in the next few months

If it is the stock block then it should be an LS1. The LS6 blocks are only in some 2002 Firebird TA's from what I have heard. But eh I could be wrong. Either way though an LS6 block is not going to help you produce any more power than an LS1 block, in fact I hear they have a little less structural integrity then the LS1 block. Again though I'm just passing on what I have read.
