Those folks should be banned for life, however, they are often allowed to stay. If you're a member, you also have to expect there will be a few moderators who abuse their position, but, I haven't found that to be the general rule on any site. Just my .02 cents.
yes abuse of power can be sorted out by the site Admin. I had a case where a Mod was abusive most of the times and I asked him to resign. without making a public display he resigned. usually if you brought up this issue to the site Admin a few times and nothing was done, that usually means the Mod in question is doing a good job, he/she is usually checked on. Mods don't just do what they want, they are periodically checked out and advised on different issues. but like anything in this world nobody is perfect. there will be members with different agendas that will try to bash a site, old grudges and/or personal issues. I used to tell the members just stick with the board rules and be nice if an issue comes up, and Mods will usually be understanding. guys, we are all car enthusiasts, look I am here using your site to learn and have a pleasant stay, and not misbehave, instigate so my chances of getting warned or banned are very very minimal. go by the rules, you can't fail.

what is this thread about? I don't know any of the 2 sites as I chill in the truckforum.org, came in here to get some information on LT1 swap in my B2000. I can tell you some of my experience way back.

I can tell you with most certainty that the people that get warned and baned from one site and go to another site and bash did something wrong. your conduct of bashing tells me right away you are trouble makers not peace makers. you assume too much and stack up those feelings, while the site staff goes on by their regular indiscriminatory routine and keeps the site order. the concept of "I did not do anything" or "I did not say anything" is very common. I used to Admin a site way back, and you will not belive what is going on behind the scenes. a site staff is there to make sure there is order, and if a member gets out of hand they need to act.

Most of my former staff is still there but I gave it up along with some staff because members would personally flame the staff without any knowledge of the incident(s) that lead to a warning or ban etc. it became a stressful job. members just see the aftermath but they do not see the 1 2 3 or 4 steps that lead to the warning. so all I am saying is don't necessarily bash the site staff, nobody is perfect, I am sure they are doing the best they can. Haters will be there always on any site to instigate against staff. I gave up my Admin rights because it added up, it is streeful to be a site staff, it's not fun. it's all in the past and I do not want to talk about it further. I hope all this helps. I intend to stay on this site to get my truck running on LT1 motor.
while you have a good point your wrong in this case. i dont ever get in trouble and this mod from what i hear is abusing his power. he has been a mod for a month or two and is up in everyone ***. he thinks him and his car are gods gift to earth. i do think he hates me because im 22 and successful??

I don’t feel we’ve ever had any significant issues with the staff on this site grossly abusing their powers.

I’ve been a member here since day one, and even before I was on staff, I never once felt like anyone would use their influence or powers in an abusive way. Maybe that’s because I never had a problem following the rules. I find that in general, people who feel that an entire site staff is on a power trip are usually people who have a problem following the site’s rules. Yes, sometimes sites will end up with staff members that have bad attitudes, or a few staffers that might overstep their bounds; but this will never be a large scale long term problem on any site with good owners/admins, who will not allow their staff to drop to that level.

Summary: Bad/lazy site owner/admin, usually means a bad staff. Good site owner/admin, usually means a good staff.

I’ll be honest, I wanted to lock this thread as soon as I saw it because I figured it would turn into a major site bashing war. We don’t promote members here bashing other sites. I didn’t lock it though, because at the time everyone was acting mature for the most part, which is all we ask. We do have some specific rules on this site regarding non-sponsor soliciting, etc., but for the most part if you act mature, post things in the right places, and use normal forum etiquette, you’ll do fine here. Just the fact that a thread like this (which includes some posts with members openly complaining about this site itself) is allowed to live this long should show you that the LS1Tech staff tries their best to be fair with their members. On many sites, the mere mention of dissatisfaction with the site would result in an instant lockdown/deletion of the thread and action against the member.

*Keep in mind, we can still lock it at any time if people go too far in this thread, like getting childish with insults & bashing between sites.

Above all else though, keep in mind that a message board such as this is not “public property”, and the site owners/admins can make discretionary calls on any thing at any time. Free speech laws don’t apply. However, we do make an effort to allow members to speak their mind to a point. Some choose to cross that line and wind up facing bans, etc. But again, follow the rules, be mature, don’t post dumb crap in the tech sections, and you should have no issues here.

And finally, a few words to our new members in this thread, please take the time to read the stickies posted at the top of each section; they will advise you of section rules and answer FAQs. Also, give our search feature a try, we’ve gathered a ton of info on this site over the years, and if you have basic research questions about your LSx based engine or car, chances are the answers you need are just a quick search away.

I just heard they even banned a mod there ... I knew that mod and he was an excellent mod with constant updates on his own *sensibly modded* LS1.
He started the LS1.com video which was supposed to be pretty good.

It wouldn't surprise me if he makes the migration here to share his prowess with the *real* LS1 site.

Did they boot you too? You're one of the only guys I remember there because you really pissed a lot of people off. I take it you're not there anymore?

Good luck here. LS1TECH.COM is a good site and they don't put up will a lot of bullshit here. Just be considerate and courteous to others and you'll be here a very long time.

I frequent that site every so often just for the crazy threads such as showing your GF's ***** and such, haha. I agree that Mr. Lous always was really nice and quick to help. I haven't been on there in a while so I don't know what happened there. Used to be on Z28.com but that site got too queer for me and there isn't many real knowledgeable people there. This site used to **** me off only because I didn't have a LS1, haha. I spent a lot of time here in the LT1 section though when I had my 95 Z. This site is great for everything. Really great technical help here which can't be said for the other sites. The others site have their own positives to some people though, just not me anymore.

Yeah, there is a little bit of stuff that needs to get fixed. It's not like one thing is gonna bring down the whole site. I am on LS1.com all of the time and a little bit here. I enjoy both of these sites for what they have to offer. I am annoyed by the fact that this thread exists.

this thread exists because all of us have been banned from ls1.com for some stupid reason or the other.......
Not that anyone on here is wanting to bag on them, its just when you have this many people who are very un-satisfied with a forums site like that..
We are all going to bash it...

Nice, I should hang out there more often and test the waters to see what you guys are talking about, lol. Than again I get nothing from over there and there is never any new threads anyways so nothing really to learn from there. I wonder why, oh ya b/c its better here and everyone comes here instead

Yeah, I understand that you all are pissed, but it is still a site that has usefull info but yet peeps are bashing LS1.com for reasons other than Trigger happy Mods! For instance, they state it has no usefull info. This site and all other sites are what you make it! "unsubscribed"

Guess you got banned, as well. What did they nail you for? I'm gonna' go over there and see what's going on ... only log in there nowadays about once a month, so, I can't speak much for the site as of late. I used to go there about everyday around a year ago when I was banned here by Nine Ball for 90 days. It seemed to be a pretty good board and there were a lot of folks then at LS1.com who got away with a LOT more than folks get away with here at LS1Tech.com.

At least 2 in this thread who were warned multiple times over there seem to have been banned, but, as someone stated and I re-iterated, there are some bad mods who power-trip and ban you for little of nothing.

I'll go check it out over there and see how things really are. I'm sure what some here are saying is true, but, some of the posts in this thread seem to be just people venting because they got banned ... for whatever reason.

When I was banned here, I didn't harshly bash LS1Tech (I don't think). A lot other people who were there were people LS1Tech had permanently banned. They said the same things about LS1Tech.com.

The 90 day ban I got here a year or so ago made me a better person when I came back here ... from a perspective of what to say and not to say. I try to not offend anyone here. I just don't take personal attacks personal anymore ... I'll be 50 years old in two months and I don't need that in my life anymore.

All that said, forums are forums and all have their pro's and cons 'cause people are always gonna' be people.

I have not been on ls1.com in years....did not even know they still had a website to be honest. Something happened around the 2004 timeframe and I have not been on there since.
