Lingenfelter and comp cams

Lingenfelter and comp cams I had a cam go flat on one lobe recently it was gt 2 roller cam from lingenfelter,professionally installed of course and after 4000 miles went to crap. I had it repalced at a personal expense of 2700 while i was 2000 miles away from home and upon returning decided to test the parts. Comp cams specs their hardness for these cams at rockwell 58-62. So i took it over to a metalurgy shop and we tested the cam in several spots. The centre journal was rc60 right in the middle of the range. also the same in several other spots on the lobe in question but near the nose of the lobe was rc52 (soft) the wheel had worn into the lobe from the thrust sides and the metal was pitted below the surface
also i checked the ls 7 lifter wheel for hardenss and got rc 63. Obviously this cam should not have left the production floor in this state.
I am going to send my findings along with the test results from the metalurgy shop and the camshaft and lifter to lingenfelter as they are very interested in seeing the problem, however i am more interested in making claims against ones product liability insurance or better yet since the sum is so low have someone step up here and take responsinblity for this junk. After spending over 24,000 last year alone on engine rebuilds i am getting fed up with all the incompetence that exists in this industry.
In the mean time i would stay away from comp cams to avoid this problem to yourself until we see what resolves itself, of course should they step up and cover damages this would greatly instill buying confidence again in their product line.I shall keep you all posted on the outcome and any dialogue with either lingenfelter and comp in the coming weeks.
