spec fail
spec fail I have posted in the manual transmission section, but here is the short. I ordered a spec stage 2 kit pp flywheel clutch... I installed it. when I got the trans back in the clutch wouldnt disengage. I assumed that it was the slave. Replaced the slave with a new gm unit. reinstalled the trans, clutch wont disengage. I replaced the master and the clutch wont disengage. I removed the trans and loosed the pp bolts because I didnt not pay attention to the torque of the pp bolts when installing but did put them on in a star pattern. I torqued the bolts to 22 ft lbs. reinstalled the trans, clutch wont disengage. I got pissed cause spec took a 2 week vacation for the holidays so I took the clutch back out and put the factory clutch pp and flywheel back in. Once spec got back to work I called and talked to J. Auvil (spec-01) and he said I could pay for shipping back to them so they can figure out what is the matter fix it then send it back. He told me that they have over 10k happy customers and that it is probably my fault and that I ruined the pp by over torquing it. I have since told my story to everyone I work with( I am a active duty Marine in a unit of 500) many of which will now never buy spec products. I absolutely cant believe that a company that big cant take pride in a product well made and just stand behind it. I understand mistakes happen but dont blame the customer for breaking items when they are made bad. And also dont make the customer pay shipping on units that have to get sent back to them. Spec told me that they dont issue refunds on items installed, which is understandable unless the item installed was faulty! Thanks for nothing SPEC!
