i bought a set of stage 2.5 5.3 heads used that had a spring break. causing the valve to drop and broke the head of valve of. the head of the valve got wedged in the seat on the intake side. so i took the head to champion racing heads in palm coast. they fixed the seat but did a bad job! valve guide was also broke.
they called me saying it was ready so i drove an hour there to pic up. when i got there i inspected the head and found that they simply replaced seat and guide but did not fix the aluminum around guide that was cracked. there was a chunk of aluminum that was would have fell in my engine after a few heat cycles. i was told it was fine wich i knew it was not. the owner of the shop took a screw driver and with minimal pressure the piece fell off into the intake runner. i said see that would have went into my engine causing a blown engine. this peice was half the size of a dime and 3 times as thick. any way i told i was not happy with it. they fixed it "right" the next day. i drove back down there to pick up. they rewelded the broken spot and reported it. all looked well.
after gettin home i found that the intake and exhaust valve in that chamber they fixed was different than the valves that texas speed had in there. the only number i found was 27704 on the valve which i cant find any info on it. the exhuast valve is shorter by like .005 and intake is longer by .007 they gave me a intake valve to do my flycutting with wich also had the same number 27704 which is a 2.05 valve. they machined one of these down to a 2.02 to fit in my head. this valve is also alot heavier than my others.
so basically i need a new intake and exhaust valve for this chamber. also knoticed that the valve would not seat right. i took a light and put it up to the cumbustion chamber and looked down the intake runner and i see light around the valve. this would cause the loss in compression.
i paid this company 365.00 to fix my head so i all i had to do was bolt it on....yea right. there is more on this about the conversations tom the owner and i had. but it would take forever.
this is what happened due to spring failure. no ones fault.

here is pic of broken guide and you can see cracks in aluminum around guide that the guy said would be ok. then broke off with minimal pressure.http://![](http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i459/hotrodth/Fracture.jpg)
what it should look likehttp://![](http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i459/hotrodth/Goodvalve.jpg)
this is what champion racing heads tried to give back to me saying it was ok.
