Can you update me on shipping on my recent Camaro 2.5 package order? Or could you direct me towards a way to track shipping?

Hi Troy,
It went out yesterday

All of the speaker packages are also getting a replacement for the CL-4ex 4" in the hatch because CDT is out of them. All if the packages are getting Image Dynamics CTX-4 4" which are just as good, same price, performance, quality and sound. I tested them personally and image Dynamics makes high end speakers similar to CDT. The rest of the package is the same CDT products for the doors and sail panel subs.
Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Thanks,
Ian Kee

I would have appreciated being contacted before any changes to my order were made.

The replacement Image Dynamics "4 speaker is 50w and 87db. The CDT speaker is 60w and 90db.

I respect your opinion, but these speakers do not match the specs advertised for what I paid for. On paper they are not as good quality.

I am open to any options or compromises you may have. I hear great things about you on LS1tech, and I truly think your packages are the best on the market.

One solution would be me shipping them back to you, and you refunding their listed price on your website. $79.99?

Hi Troy,
I am currently using them personally in all my installs and the performance is very bit the same. In fact I prefer the tweeter on these over the CDT tweeter as it is the same material but the dome portion is better. I literally just used a set yesterday in a customers car that had the CL-4EX in them but the customer had damaged one of them. Since CDT is out of the CL-4EX I could not replace his damaged CL-4EX and used the CTX-4, which I have been using for the past month now. It works flawlessly and seamlessly.
As far as what you see on paper vs. what you get as far as quality and performance, there is no difference. If you truly believe you can hear the difference between 87 and 90db then that to be honest is comical. Especially when it comes to a sensitivity rating. You would have to drop to about 85db and have bass only frequency like a subwoofer to actually be able to detect an audible difference between the 2 speakers. With full range sound you would hear no difference at all as high and mid frequency levels require less power to be able to make their audible sound that reaches the ear.
As for the wattage difference, Image is more conservative with their rating where as CDT is a little more objective with theirs. If you look more closely at the 2 speakers, the things that matter in speaker construction are the same with the exception of the cones which Image uses a Mica Polymer cone and CDT uses carbon treated paper cones. Both use the same size voice coil and a rubber butyl surround. The magnet on the CTX-4 is actually a little larger. This is why both cost $79.99. Everything you read on paper is not necessarily what needs to be considered. I have used hundreds of different brands of every type of car audio equipment imaginable. I go by what I know from using and installing experience not from what it says on paper.
Image Dynamics is a high end company like CDT Audio is. The reason I don't use their other speakers in these specific packages is because their other speakers are not compatible with the Monsoon system in the doors and sail panels plus they don't make a 2ohm speaker. The rear hatch are 4ohm in the stock system so there is more flexibility with those vs. the other speakers in the doors and sails. I use Image in other installs due to their high quality and because they do have some other sizes that CDT does not have. So I use the 2 companies depending on the need and installation parameters.
If you are dead set on the CL-4EX, they will be back in stock in July and I would be happy to get you a set then. As for a $79.99 refund, that is not what you paid for them. As you may have noticed, the packages are discounted greatly over what it would cost to buy each individual speaker set. The actual cost of the speakers you are getting is $439.97 if you were to buy the each set or purchase them anywhere else. Plus add shipping into that which I do for free. I discount the packages because when I order them as a set from CDT, I don't pay what I normally would pay if I ordered them individually. So instead of putting that extra into my pocket, I put it back into yours. Even the $439.97 is using my discounted price of $189.99 instead of CDT's sale price of $199.99 for the same set as they were $259.99 a set previously. I have special permission to sell them slightly cheaper from CDT.
So, again, if your truly set of the CL-4EX, I will be happy to get you a set in July, specifically I was told by CDT yesterday (I've asked to), the first week in July. I am not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes or anything remotely close to that. The Image CTX-4 is identically comparable to the CL-4EX in performance. It is something I actually used, installed, and heard the results of before I substituted them as I had lots of other 4" coaxial options available I could have used over the last month from a dozen other companies but Image Dynamics is one of those companies like CDT that makes small batches of very good speakers and does not mass market cheap speakers. They never have.
Last option is if you want a $39.99 refund I can do that for you as that is the actual cost of that set after the discount and is your actual cost of those. Again, you really would be making a mistake by doing that as the Image product is very good and you would not be able to buy a quality set of 4" coaxials for $39.99. I am confident you would like them alot. These are not some cheapo replacement. I put thought into everything I sell and use in every install I do.
I know that was long winded but I wanted to make sure you were informed as much as possible. Please take all this into consideration. I've been doing this a long time and have been doing F-Body specific audio for over 7 years.
Thanks,
-Ian Kee

Again, I would have appreciated being contacted before any changes to my order were made. It could have saved a lot of trouble.

I am glad you are having personal success with your replacement speakers, however that is irrelevant to my concern. I am not glad you find my concern over the specifications comical.

You should refer to the attached picture. Sorry, but you can’t use this argument to present your product as superior to competitors and then tell me my concern is comical.

As I said before, I respect your opinion. You obviously know your product well. However, no amount of your expertise can make up for not delivering as advertised.

I too have been in car audio for many years. Your package was the best I could find for the dollar, that’s why I bought it. You don’t need to do any more convincing.

In the scenario that I ship back the Image Dynamics and you ship me the CDTs in July, who pays for shipping?

Hi Troy,
I kind of figured you would pull something like that with the Paypal dispute using the wording you kept using.
Return my product and I will give you a refund. What a **** thing to do after I offered you to keep the Image speakers and was going to send you the CDT speakers anyway when they arrived in July. Did you not read my last email where I said that? I think you did and was kind of expecting a douche bag move like this.
Return my stuff immediately so I can resolve this.

I want to return the entire package at your expense because the package is not as described. I will not pay for shipping because the mistake was not mine.

Perhaps you missed my e-mail sent Thursday 6/19/14 at 3:26 PM.

I will forward you the original e-mail with the attached picture again.

After 4 days without a reply you left me no choice but to file a dispute.

You have not communicated your intent to ship me the correct speakers or pay for return shipping on the speakers you sent.

Troy,
I'm not playing your games. Ship it back and stop playing these games. You know what kind of BS game your playing.
I was more then willing to ship you the rears when they came in at my expense and even told you to keep the other set. Apparently you missed that email or something as that was completely all a win win for you. Not only would you get the rear speakers but you got to keep the others. Not sure how that wasn't reasonable or in your favor but I think anyone in their right mind would've found that acceptable to end up with a free set of speakers out of the deal.
Like I said, your playing games now and I'm done with this. Ship back my product and you get a refund, just like the Paypal letter said. When I have a tracking number and receive my product back in new condition in the original packaging, undamaged, you will get a full and prompt refund.
You know damn well the front and sail subs are as described and you were going to get the rears as described. Stop with the BS games and act like a man. If not that's on you. I've bent over backward to accommodate you. That's over. I have been more then reasonable.

This is the first I am hearing of this supposed compromise... Perhaps you could forward me that e-mail? I don't think you can, because it doesn't exist. I think that was yet another attempt at pushing the blame on me instead of owning your mistake.

Here is the email copied and pasted from me to you, right after you decided to copy and paste something I already wrote that you wanted to use out of context:

Hi Troy,
I don't need a screen shot of something I wrote but thanks...I am quite familiar with it. That chart is not what I was questioning as it is accurate.
My success has nothing to do with anything. What I was referring to was was my personal experience in using both of these speakers side by side in comparison and their level of performance and quality. I am trying to be helpful but your hung up on numbers on a piece of paper instead of real world experience with both products. I wouldn't have sent those to you if I thought for a second they were not a quality equal to the other product nor if I hadn't heard them personally. I don't guess on stuff like that.
Your concern is not comical, the fact that you think you can audibly hear the difference between 2db was...again on paper, not in reality. If I went strictly by what stuff says on paper with car audio companies all my customers would be very disappointed. 3000watt amps that make 200watts etc. I can read this stuff all day. I know what manufacturers make and do well and what they don't do well. Not by reading reviews and numbers on paper but by using the products and hearing what they do and don't do.
As for presenting my product as superior to what competitor...? That was a chart I used to explain to a customer that he didn't need more power then stock to power them even at the Level 3-4. Nothing more. Even at 87db you'd be fine with stock power as it is in the 45-50watt RMS range.

Keep the Image Dynamics. Put them in, throw them in the trash...I don't care at this point, I have tried to help. Everyone else is enjoying them with the stock system just fine, your not everyone else, I get that and it is very clear your hung up on numbers on paper and not actual world experience.
I will send you a set of CL-4EX when they arrive in July. Then you can decide how they sound side by side if you haven't thrown away a perfectly good high end set of speakers. I have your address and as soon as CDT gets them in, I will send you a set.
Or I can just send you a refund for $40.00. Your choice.
-Ian Kee

Apparently you didn't get it or something. Not sure what happened.
The only mistake I made was accepting money from you for my product. You obviously like to play games and try to manipulate situations. Soon as CDT has more CL-4EX in stock they will email me and I will get those to you. I am and always have been a man of my word and I don't like or play games. I don't have time for that kind of stuff. Apparently you do. Hopefully we are done here...

It's painfully obvious that you just fabricated that email. You never sent that.

However, that's a good compromise. I could leave the stock 4" in for now. When the CDTs are back in stock, you can ship me those and a packing label to send back the Image Dynamics (assuming that's worth the shipping $ to you?).

That way you have to pay a little extra shipping, but you have your Image Dynamics back.

I cancelled my dispute via PayPal.

I didn't fabricate that but whatever. It was written the same day you sent me my own chart. All I did was copy and paste it.
Again, when they come back in stock, I will send those to you. Beyond that I want nothing more to do with you. I wouldn't trust you to put them in the mail even after I paid the shipping anyway. Like I said, keep them, toss them, I don't care. They are a great set of speakers and every bit the same performance and quality. It's your loss, not mine.
And yes, I was aware of the dispute closure. I got an email every time you did something from them. It's a good thing you did that.
I really want nothing more to do with you so as soon as those come in, I will get them out so we can part ways.
