This is a 2 part question. A couple days ago i called SLP to ask what would be better to order for my car (2001 camaro SS convertable) just an air lid or a cold air induction and he told me just lid and a good filter, would give me 12 solid horse power so i said what if i cut my cat. off to he said that would rob 20 horsepower iam just wondering on ur guys opinon was thanks.

Because cutting cats hinders flow and causes all sorts of nonsenical **** to occur in the PCM. Easy 20-25hp reduction. Read it on LS1.com.

While I dont believe there is much of a power gain in just removing your cats (as compared to actually getting a Y-pipe, cat back, or headers), Im pretty sure there isnt a power LOSS in doing so. The guys a monkey.

Well, you've got two cats. But it doesn't make sense that eliminating the cats would cause a loss of HP. He must have misunderstood.

Is that a trick question?

Removing your cats will not cause a loss of horsepower. People usually lose 5-10 rwhp when they go from an ORY back to a catted Y setup.

I HAVE A 99 c5 i removed my catalytic converters and i dropped one tenth in the quarter. you will prolly have to tune out the pcm codes via tuner/02 sims. and slp techs really are idiotic. i asked them how hard it is to change the plugs on a 99 corvette they insisted on telling me 13 hours. so i said **** in 13 hours i'll pull the whole motor out of the car. the tech said that would prolly be the easy way. well i did it myself not very mechanically skilled in under 2 hours and i only had a problem with the drivers side closest to the windshield. and all i needed was a socket with a swivel head.. so yes they are stupid
