Default Performabuilt issues

Put a Performabuilt 4l60e in my 69 Camaro behind an LS7, Compushift controller. Custom built Phoenix converter. Hurst dual gate shifter.
Finnaly after 18 months got it on the road. Disappointedly discovered that I had no 2nd gear, talked with Frank at Performabuilt. Nice guy and helpful but he suggested trying to troubleshoot by going thru alot of time consuming steps. I pay my builder by the hour so we decided to go to a local tranny guru.

He used his computer to diagnosis the problem within minutes. Discovered issues with a valve body and or the servo. Going to have the tranny guy fix the problem so I can enjoy my ride. I'll keep you posted.

+1 on the FLT - customer service and attention to detail are spot-on.

Yes this gentleman has some issue with second he shifts 1-3-4 I do not know what the issue is I did suggest a few test . This unit was built before the dyno and the test vehicle over a year ago, Its been setting all that time. If I am correct on the one it is. I spoke with him and told him we were still willing to stand behind it. This could be any of a couple possible reason ranging from a damaged teflon seal to a valve that stuck from setting so long they were not run back then before being shipped. We will stand behind it still But thats all I can do when something like this comes up. I do opologize that theres and issue.

A trans sitting without having any fluid circulated through it can definitely pose a problem sometimes. Just as you said, its very possible that there could be a stuck valve.

Ok glad to hear Frank and Performabuilt will stand behind it. Here are the facts.
Got the Level II tranny last year. Approximately two months later it was installed with a Yank SS 3200 converter.

The car was trailered in July 200 miles to Tulsa to get the initial dyno break-in and tune from a well respected Midwest LSx tuner. The car dynoed at aprox. 630-640 HP flywheel. It was on the dyno for about 2 hours, however the motor wasn't running all that time.

Trailered the car back home where the car was driven in front of the builders shop for about 20 mins. We noticed that it didn't work correctly at that time, wouldn't shift right. But we contributed it to the Compushift.
We went back to the resto/mod of the car.

At the end of Jan. the car was entered into a car show, I drove it maybe 5 miles. It still wasn't right and didn't shift correctly despite reworking the shift computer and consulting with Compushift.

Found out today that the 2 band was burned and the overdrive clutch was burned up. My tranny guy is a very experienced and respected tranny specialist. He stated that the internals did not appear to be built for a high HP application and wasn't surprised it didn't last. I told him the car had MINUTES not MILES on it.

I'm not writing to badmouth anyone but to inform. I will talk with Frank at Performabuilt next week and give him more details. I like Frank, he is easy to work with and seems genuinely concerned, however I'm getting the tranny rebuilt by the local specialist, so if something goes wrong I can deal with him locally, much easier.

Just an update, got the car back and took it to a Dynodynamics for tune and to set shift points. Ran great, shout out to Ken at Gillette Transmissions for his help, everything worked well. Dyno'd at 485whp. Shifts without issues, including second gear. Talked with Frank at Performabuilt, he is looking into what can be done. I'll keep updating this post to help inform others.

This is really a sponsor feedback issue at this point. I'll leave a pointer for few days so it can be followed.
