Question OFI turbo kit users/waiters!!!

Just wondering how you guys like your OFI kits? how long did it take to recieve your parts cuz i've been hearing a lot of people waiting over 3 months for little parts.. i'm sorry but a kit thats around $6,000 i wouldn't expect to wait 3-6 months for the kit especially if you pay for it all up front.

For the ones that are waiting if you could do it over again would you go through OFI or would you rather find someone that builds kits faster and actually answers when you call?

let me know your info!!!

well i know of 2 people who have this kit on ORDER and payed in full.. and its been about 3 months if not a little longer. He never answers his phone and he never returns the phone call. i think they said if they could do it over again they wouldn't go through this guy unless the prices was way cheaper to wait so long. one of them is considering flying down to pay a visit since they cant get ahold of him cause hes MIA at least to them.

Good things take time guys,

The best thing to do is send him a email or PM, Joel is allways out in the shop welding or fabbing your kits.

We orderd a kit for a customer and i have just about all of it, just a few back ordered parts.

He was prompt on delivery and answered every question i had, the kit was defiantly worth the wait. For a kit of this quality you will wait, he is a one man deal at the moment and i understand what hes going through, this industry is crazy at the moment.

Im sure he will chime in soon

I ordered my kit the end of August and was told 4-6 weeks. About a month later I changed my order to add ceramic coating and a 4" DP. I wasn't in any huge hurry and knew the past OFI waiting game. Most of the small couplers, fans, oil lines etc came very quick. I would send a pm every month or two asking about the status. Joel kept saying that my downpipe wasn't finished at the coater but everything else was ready. I waited and waited and kept getting the same answers. I finally posted in the feedback forum and since I'm already months behind schedule I opted to get the hot parts uncoated...even though everything except my dp was supposed to be done. Within 3 days the hot parts were here. They look great and were packaged very well. I am still waiting on the radiator, intercooler and refund for the coating. I'm in the market for a another T6 kit and I don't know what I"ll do. Joel is the only game in town when it comes to off the shelf T6 kits but the waiting is getting old. I'm not sure what the deal is...his work looks great but I'm not sure why it takes so long.

So theres one that i know of that got the kit in a decent time... but maybe thats cuz your a business? that might have something to do with it don't you think? doesn't he have a mock up for everything? i wouldn't think it would take that long to fab up something that you have all the dimensions for it..

also i think he should stop taking in more orders for kits, when he can't even get out the other ones that are paid for already.. no wonder he's backed up cuz he's prolly just making all the dp's at once and all the other things all at once instead of finishing one customer's kit and sending it out.

so what i get outta this is the "april special" from what i see those buyers won't get their kits for 3 or 4 years? if one person ordered in august and still waiting for parts 8 months later then the people buying now wouldn't get till 2012 if not later.. why pay for a kit up front if your not even sure you'll have the car 8 months - 4 years later? sounds like to me he needs to rethink his business.

For the person who made this post if you have a kit on order PM me or call me. Im at the shop as we speak. I only see 2 people in this post that bought a kit from me.

Again I always answer the phone as much as I can. Times are very busy here during this part of the year.

Im going to keep selling kits and putting sales up...If you dont, you dont make money thus I dont stay open. Im one of the few turbo shops that actually have made it 2 years and counting. It might take me a little longer the get stuff out, but you always get it. Im currently getting the stuff out faster as time goes. I have tried to hire many different people, but have had nothing good come out of it. I have found that I will have to tuff it out until the busy time passes then train someone to fabricate.

Also the suppliers right now are having a very hard time keeping things in stock. Which is setting me back even more.

Agian if you have any questions about me or my work ethics call the shop or Pm me. I will gladly talk to you.

Thanks Joel

I don't care how long it takes. I have heard nothing but good things about Joel and the product speaks for itself. As soon as I get through my mid tour in Afghanistan I'll be putting up and order (hopefully during the slow time!!) Keep up the great work Joel your kits kick ***!

Here's the deal in a nutshell when it comes to things like this.

First, Joel makes a seriously BADASS quality kit from top to bottom. Nothing sucks. He has always answered all my questions promptly through PM and email, no phone calls. Don't call....people like Joel have to work during business hours. But at night after they wind down and have a meal, they get to sit and answer PM's and emails. Sometimes vendors that he uses holds up his kits from going out the door to its customers too.

One thing I would like to see though, just like I've heard from two non-sponsors that can build the same exact thing Joel builds is: They simply WILL NOT except a penny from a new customer if they are swamped already. Gayle Banks told me they can build me exactly what I want but they cannot start it for another 8 months, at least they're honest. I am slowly putting together a serious single turbo build-up and Joel is one of my choices for this build because his kits ARE THE ****!!! I've also been in contact with 2 other non-sponsors that have been around for 15+ years in this industry but they have told me they WILL NOT except a deposit right now because they cannot guarantee me a ship time for my complete kit and they WILL NOT ship anything until the 100% complete kit is able to ship all at once. Luckily I'm not in a crushing rush as Weber Racing, who's going to build my engine, is short on quality LSX GM iron blocks. The non-sponsor shops are much more expensive too, MUCH MORE, but they may be the answer when the time is right.

Give OFI some time, he does the fabbing and when you have one guy doing it all its usually because he wants GREAT QUALITY to go out the door each time. No ****-ups.

This is a part of research when looking for a kit. I for one am going to allow 6 months for my car to be put together from tip to tail AFTER I have my engine sitting in a crate and after every single part needed for the turbo kit is sitting in front of the builder, when I'm ready.

Don't know which turbo kit shop I'm going to use yet though...................

I have had nothing but good results when deal ing with Joel. His stuff is very nice quality. I can stand right here and agree that running a turbo shop is not easy task. I answer more tech questions a day than I sell kits. I have not problem with that. I have turned down several jobs this month due to muy current work load. I am **** about making sure everything is right and I wont send a setup out the door of my shop until it is. Customers dont always like that, but is is my reputation. I wont budge on that front.

Keep up the good work Joel.
