Post Ohio Forced induction

My experince with O.F.I... not sure where to start soo ill just do a quick run threw

orderd my kit around Jan 5 2007. i was going to do two payments and go after two shipments soo i could
A) get an idea of how ever thing goes. see if im really up for this. money and so on
b) not have all my peas in one pot incase thigns go south

a few months of very little information passed. there was weeks where i sent 2 or 3 e-mails a day and got one back a few weeks later not really adressing any thing i asked. i was told my stuff was ready. when it was not. i know this becuse there is no way in hell it takes 2 months or build or get an intercooler or rad.

after about 2 months, nearing 3 months i was told my HOLE kit was ready...so sweet.. 3 months of kinda being doddled along but it was ready. i was told a shipping date...it passed with about a week. called and told it would go out next week. witch it did. at this point i have payed full and upfront for my kit witch i was spasoe to be getting in two parts.

my kit arrives at the local UPS outlet and they are not able to get it to me becuse there was a request put in that i pay OFI the shipping and handing befor i could get it, I had O.F.I ship it becuse i do not deal with UPS so i dont have an account witch apperntly means 'pay on arrivle' cant be done,

not to awasome when i alreayd have 6K invested into parts i havent seen for four months, havent really heard much from the poeple doing it, and they are worried ill rip them over a grand?
ouch

soo now i get ALL of my parts. no.. i dident. ABS bracket, cold side clamps and silicon tubeing was missing. sweet.

got my cold side stuff probly a couple weeks later. my ABS bracket showed up this monday, June 2. so now i have all my parts

the kit came with no directions besides some scribbled on and wore off felt on some of the pipes. not so awasome

hotside went in ok once i tracked down some gaskets that fit with the round ports on the headers.

oil fittings for the turbo along with bolts. the oil fittings that came with, would not work even with some harry potter magic. had to go get a lot of new odds and ends. two of the bolts to hold the turbo down where WAY to long and had to be cut * as does most things with the kit so far.*

lineing up the turbo/ cross over pipe / waste gate/ down pipe was by far the funnest part of the hole build. the bolts dont sit tight in the x pipe soo the turbo can wiggle around making the down pipe not meat up with the waste gate witch makes the D/P ither rub on the break line or bounce off of the steering colom when u turn..nice

next where the fittings. just in jeneral.. my car(1994 lt1 camaro) has stock rad hoses of about 1 1/4" or so..the fittings on the new rad are 1.5"..sweet..

the new rad has NO pre outs for the oil cooler if you kept it, steam vent or any thing like that

next. the condenser is now standing upright and not laying down soo the bottem line off of the AC compresser would not fit with out kniking and shooting into the belt...soo the fitting had to be shortened. im not sure how i could do it with out draning the AC like they told me i could..

that was just the start of fitting things

with the headers in, the abs unit would not fit. then intake charge pipe off of the intake must have a wrong bend in it and is to longe becuse it sitts ontop of the condenser not giving it room to close the hood or even put my stock MAF back in. the charge pipe that goes from the inter cooler to the pipe off of the TB sits lower then the front bumper and pushes agenst it making it almost impossable to fit the nose cone back on.

the expantion tank that is sapose to fit underthe hood pump stop..dosent. becuse the new ABS bracket places the abs there. witch will probly meen the lines have to be stretched

and thats all i can think of right now. there is probly more but that can come later

over all. for the 8grand i currently have sitting into this to make this...bolt on and go, well keeping ever thing with out majour mods kit, is running me... i honestly would say. go sts or supercharged... or ls1

Jo there is nothing wrong with anything that I sent you. It all goes on the car and had it installed on the car here before I shipped it out. I dont know what else to tell you. I have talked to you almost everyday and you even call on sundays about 5 times and think im going to answer when im not even there. I sent you pics of the exact parts on the car here and how they go on. I dont know how much more I can help with out putting it on myself. You even thought the headers were wrong because of the flanges had only 1 hole on the outside. Plus you were going to use stock manifold gaskets on a 1 3/4 header. Maybe a turbo install was not for you and should of just got something else. Dont start bashing me on here b/c you can't figure some stuff out. I have tried many times to help you like I said. You even said the kit is great in other post, but Im not going to dig this stuff up. This is all I have to say about this one. Anybody has any questions you can call me or Pm me.

Thanks Joel

There is one thing that should be noted for an international order:
The duty collected for shipping out of country is not quoted by the sponsor, it is difficult to know what will be the assessed value. Customs determines that amount and if it is not paid, will not release the items waiting for you. This does increase your cost overall.

Build time depends on two factors: payment and availability. If one decides to wait on paying or funds are not available then the build is delayed so others can be completed.
Parts, even seeming simple ones, aren't always sent to the vendor as promised. Many sponsors find this out after they have ordered from the manufacturer, not before.

Please refer to the posts you've made on how to install a turbo set up, pictures were sent prior to this post on how to properly install as well as answers in the FI forum. Any further questions should be directed back to the vendor or those that install turbos on a 1994 LT1.

i know about all that joel. and where are the directions? you do not talking to me every day. you dont even reply to e-mails all that quick..... inless a week or more has passed with a few phone calls.
the kits build quailty is awasome, yes. worth all guessing to make it work with pictures of an LS1 car for directions on a lt1 car. no...not really

instalation..blows chucks. it probly would of been easier to ship you my car then having you ship me a kit

maybe i am missing some thing but i woudlent know becuse all off the black felt marker directions on the pipes rubbed off during transport. i call becuse last time i posted any thing on here you asked me not to and i am honestly sick and tired of fighting with a "bolt on kit that keeps every thing in a stock location" that gets bolted/cut/ moddified/jimmied onto a car to make it work.

so my personal opinion is this

OFI Kit build quailty if you have the time to wait for ever thing to be ready. awasome

directions on how all the small thigns go, on things you are going to have to get/do to make it work properly and information about things that have to be moved/moddified.... officaly sucks inless you have a striped out drag car,not a street use car

last post/review on my OFI kit install and now thats its semi up and running, still lots of bugs and fitting to be done, but here is the last e-mail i tryed to send but coudlent becuse ive been blocked it seems, soo. to each there own and this was my experince

Last and final e-mail

Just thought you should know how it went for some one to do it them self

Over all the kit built parts quality looks amazing
the Finish - I couldn't really care less
Fit, what a big ******* pain in the ***, I know ever car is slightly different and with that in mind this kit must not of taken that into consideration because in ever tight spot that it could rub, it does. Myfavourite spot is between the steering column rubber u-join and that breakline, its either on one or the other, the exhaust system gets rid of the only hanger near the motor, the one off of the tranny tail, to help support it and leaves a HUGE amount of pipe/weightto be held up by the turbo/waste gate.
Lame.more rattles and bumps.
Instructions:lame ***,
once you get past the obvious, you really have to guess, not once i was told about having to cut off/bend out the tab under the upper radiator support for the new radiator to fit or having to bend in a section of the support to clear that fat wire loom so that the a/c condenser can stand right up, witch makes it impossible to connect the stock condenser to the compressor, witch means that it has to be modified to be used, unless you want the a/c compressor rubbing the hose open.
Not cool.
Also filling it, with it standing horizontal you have to notch the upper radaitor support to get the valve on there to load the system.
I wish I could cut more of my car up. OH WAIT!!!> I get to

Mounting the inter cooler was easy and simple, finally. probaly one of the simplest parts, would of been helpful to tell know how much to section out of the impact beam so that its all lined up.
Mounting that expansion tank, what a ******* pain in the *** for a part that doesn't work, for starters, it doesn't bleed worth **** and when you finally get it bled, you go to mount it, witch puts it lower then the radaitor of course because it's the wrong ******* size, you fill the systemwith air again, awesome work guys
another cooling note there is barley any room for an electrical water pump, witch i was told there was tons of room, if I had gone with a meizer I would have had to grind down the turbine housing. Also another thing that should be knowen.

The charge pipes, mine must have got a wrong bend in them, becuse they would not clear a lt1 nose cone, after some good old TLC with a saw-zaw and a grinder and some cussing and swearing with the shitty, multi sized and wrong sized hose clamps that come with the kit, it sucked into place

Blow off valve and waste gate spring pressures, wrong.
No stock lt1 can hack 9psi. not for long anyways,
maybe there should be some options, im betting tail lets you pick.
a 11lbs spring in the BOV is to heavy for the stock motor. I know "every car is a little different" but the luxury with an assembly line, they are really not all that different.
Over all I would have to say I feel like I have wasted a very large amount of my money on this thing, and even more time
. Yes its neat, neat enought to be worht it?, no
pluss all the time that OFI fucked around, couldn't get their **** together and stalled just made it worse

Over all I think i should of gone with a super charger or atleats with a company that knows what they are doing not a new palce that's burying it self in to much work and cant finish one thing and make it right before it has to bring in some thing new.

over all i would have to say, get some thing from a company thats been doing it and does it really good, if you must have this, then wait till they get there act together and make a full kit that comes with EVERY THING you need, *ABS bracket that the stock unit CAN NOT be made into as i was told*

This all coming from somebody that didn't even know there were extra holes on lt1 heads. You obviously shouldn't of bought a turbo kit and maybe I should start screening my buyers. I havent had anybody else complain about the lt1 kit. Yes there should be better info, but most of it is common sense. The spring should be a 8 on spring sense they don't make 9 and that will work on a lt1. I don't know where you getting your info from, but you havent called in months or emailed. I'm done with this one. I know that cold piping fits. Yours was even cut before it went out. I'm done with this one again.

People call me if you have any questions about this posters install problems.
