Nasty Performance
Three months ago, I purchased a stage three street system minus the fuel rails from Nasty Performance and paid the $50 deposit for the fuel sender. At the time, they were extremely helpful and I happily paid the deposit and informed them that it was going to be a few months before I could get the fuel sender in my car out and sent back to them. About 2 weeks later, they called asking about the fuel sender and I told them that I hadn't been able to get it out and probably wouldn't be able to for a while. A couple weeks later, they called me telling me that they needed the fuel sender. I told them that I still didn't have it out and as I had told them before, it would be a few months and not just a month and a half.
I was just looking at my credit card activity and noticed a $200 charge. Obviously a little irate, I called them to find out about it. Supposedly, there is a $250 charge for not being able to get the core to them before being shipped the new fuel setup, and they credit $200. I was told that it shows on the invoice and they don't actually charge the $200 because it costs them to refund the money.
Being a little pissed off, I ended the conversation a little abruptly and rudely, however not regrettably. I checked through all of my invoices to see if it did in fact show, but ran into a problem. They never sent the invoice with the setup. In the two boxes, there were a list of all the fittings -- printed terribly, partially off the page on one side, and half torn up -- and there is a letter from Lonnie's Performance with a little information about the fuel pump assembly.
Having never had the invoice to check, I never knew about the other $200 and only knew about the $50 I was told on the phone. I certainly should have demanded an invoice get sent to me right away, because even if I was sent one now, it could easily show the $200 mentioned regardless of when it was added.
With no invoice, I certainly don't have any grounds to file any complaint and get the $200 reversed. However, any business that doesn't ensure the invoice is enclosed, doesn't explain all the other potential charges when talking with them and going over the deposit, and doesn't call right before they charge your card to even just let you know they're doing it...is a business with some very poor business practices. Not informing someone that they are going to be charged, I would place very close to straight theft.

If I had received a call on Monday or Tuesday explaining things, I would have said that I was having shoulder surgery on Wednesday, wouldn't be able to get it out, and would have happily said to charge me for it. Not getting any call the day before or day of getting charged, well, I think I've summed it up already.
