Three days with Six Speeds, Inc.
I first called Six Speeds, Inc. last summer, to discuss the possibility of a future rebuild, and spoke with Scott for almost an hour, and he was extremely helpful. Other things came up, and then I decided to get it done this summer.
I called Amber Monday of this week. I was told to wait for a few days, and then call back, since the team was gone racing. I called again Tuesday, just to check. Same response. Wednesday, I called, and was told to bring in the car the next morning. I have the priviledge of living in Houston.
So I drove across town, was there exactly at opening, and dropped off my car. We discussed what would probably need to be done, and I was overjoyed to hear there would be no extra charge for a new 01-02 style Master and Slave cylinder (will the drill mod!!) to be installed along with the rebuilt transmission.
Amber was extremely helpful, even giving me her cell phone number to contact her with. I called this (Friday) morning, was informed my car would be ready later that day, and Amber informed me of my tranny's progess.
I received another call this afternoon, letting me know that my second gear and main input shaft were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. And I was given a quote for the total. And that I could pick up my car at about six on that day.
I picked up my car, and its been a dream to drive. New hydraulics, rebuilt T56, mostly new clutch (lol)...wonderful.
I had an excellent experience with Six Speeds, Inc. and would refer them to my best of friends.
Oh, one more thing. On their website, they say they have worked on 1089
T56s. So even if they screwed up 10 orders, completely, thats slightly more than 1% of the total. Thats about how many negative reviews I've read of them on this site.
Lets go even further. Assume they have made 50 mistakes in handling orders, beyond the point of reason. Thats about 4.5% of the total. Thats not statistically significant of anything besides chance. When you handle as many orders as that over a four year span, it is extremely likely you will screw up some.
I hate to base my conclusion on a sample of one, but in my experience, again, they are an excellent shop. Thank you, Six Speeds, Inc.
