Default Which Cold Air Intake Is Best??

Gotta '05 GXP... completely stock, just wondering which intake manufacturer is best for the cold air intake. Some say CAI, others say K&N??? How much better do these things make the car in the 1/4 mile?

its not enough of a difference to tell, i have the CAI and i'm happy with that. Some say the CAI box helps keep the heat out. I better intake alone wont change much other then sound.

I use the k&n and saw a huge increase in power, more than any other mod plus the sound is awsome. But acually when i put the airraid throttle body spacer on with the k&n i gained 9 hp on the dyno and 17 lb of torque so i guess the two work real well together.

sittingmongoose:
Are those gains from the TB spacer AND the K&N or just the TB spacer?

Airaid 200-586 PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer, that is what i bought, and those gains were after the k&n, but only the tbs, i did a dyno before i put the tbs on and than after i put it on.

So you are saying you proved on a dyno that with only changing a TB spacer (no tune mods before/after) you gained 9hp/17tq at the wheel? Do you have a dyno chart of this?

Not calling you a liar, just seems like quite a big increase for just a spacer.

I'm curious because I just picked up an '06 GXP and I'm planning on doing all the mods you have in your sig with the exception of the tune (for now). Illinois uses OBD-II emissions testing and the test station equipment doesn't like aftermarket tunes sometimes.

I'm also planning on doing the Vector IAT relocation kit as well. Just want to get an idea of what my car will put down at the wheel by looking at your dyno numbers.

If you do the DP you are most likely going to need the tune... DPs tend to throw codes on the LS4 cars if you don't keep the stock cat.

I was planning on running the cat-less down pipe. I don't have any cats on my girlfriends '02 GT. It failed the emissions test with a Diablosport tune. I put the stock tune back in and made these homemade MIL eliminators for less than $5:

The car passed and hasn't set any codes. I haven't checked into the wiring on the post-cat O2 on my GXP yet, but I'm sure its not a wideband so I don't see why the same mod wouldn't work. Unless the ECM is too "smart" for it.

You will still throw a code even with the eliminators I'm pretty sure. Its the P0240 bank1 IIRC.
