Default Remote lock / unlock .... Remote Start..

What has anyone done to improve the range for this? I am sure that everyone knows of the short range for these.

There is an internal GM notice about this, something about a bad ground in the A Pillar that affects how far the signal can travel.

...Do a search for your question to get the specific info there was a long write up on here somewhere...

I don't buy the whole tint theory. These remotes are RF not IR.

I think there's a fix or something to try and get some extended range. I really don't know if mine sucks or not I'm usually in fairly close proximity when I use mine, so it doesn't bother me.

Is it only Montes and Imps that have this issue? I park way the fck at the very last stall at the school parking lot, as soon as I come out of a building I'll hit the remote start and it works. Must be a good 50 yards away at least, I'm sure its more.

It seems to be sporadic through the Imps and Monte's, some have the problem, and some don't. Like I said, I've never really tried mine from long distance to know if it sucks or not.

That doesn't make sense though...since you have to hit the lock button first before you remote start. If it's not picking up you locking/unlocking the remote start shouldn't work either. Unless you mean your locks physically don't work. But I interpreted it as you just can't unlock and lock from the same place you start.

There is another TSB on this. Redesigned remotes, antenna, and reciever. I just got it last week. Try zapping the car at the right rear quarter, you should have the worst range there.

The doors will not lock unlock physically. when you hit the button on the remote it acts like it wants to, but will not do it. Alarm remote start, trunk, all work.

SO should I take my car in and mention the Bad ground in the Pillar? Or should I mention the TSB and the pillar?

I'd mention the TSB. They should know right away what the problem is if you mention you have very poor range as it seems to be very common, atleast with the 06 models.
