Default Brake pad question.

Does anyone have the part # for the GXP premium brake pads from the dealer. I remember seeing the post on here but I can't seem to find it. I'm going to replace the front rotors too so if anyone has any suggetions on wich rotors & pads to go with I'm all ears.

Most are going with ceramic pads.

Go with Ceramic brake pads; no dust and they last a long time. They are a little more expensive, but I'd pay anything to not have to deal with brake dust.

Also, if you are replacing the rotors, you may want to look at r1 concept rotors. They probably not much more than the stock rotors from GM. I have not had the luxury of trying them yet (I'm waiting to purchase my new wheels first, you cant see the rotors thru the SS plate wheels), but a lot of people here have them and a buddy of mine has them on his car. The consensus is they are great.

I would definitely go with some R1Concepts rotors and some EBC redd stuff pads. They are a great combo, very little brake dust and they grab much harder than stock.

I think I'll try the Red Stuff pads, although I am having a hard time finding rotors to fit. I have an 08 GXP & everyone seems to stop with the parts at 07. Why is that? HMMM!. What's different between 05-07's and 08's that we see most part manufacturers stop at 07.

I just put on my r1 rotors and my yellow stuff pads. I had hawk pads on their and before that the stock pads. The newest ones are much much better. They grab so hard it throws my front end into the ground. Also there is very very little brake fade. I paid 330 for my rotors and about 100 for my pads.

I never could understand why anyone would spend that much on brake pads.

Get a set of Morse ceramic pads. Just as good as any ceramic pad, not near the cost.

Everyone here seems to give the red stuffs a good review so I guess I'll go with them. I still need to know if 07 rotors will wirk for an 08 though. Like I said everything seems to stop at 07 so in my mind there must be a reason.

I ran into the same thing when trying to buy brake pads, everything stopped at 07, there's no difference between MYs except the re-design of the wheels which took place around 07.5MY (if i remember right). You'll be fine buying parts that are labeled for the 07s.

Akebono makes ceramic pads for the GXP also.

Part Number: N1010-187725

I know CarQuest can order these and a few online retailers carry them as well.

Get the EBC rotors with the EBC red stuff break pads.

Best stopping power period.

Two votes, EBC RS pads are the ****. I'm more of a R1C guy on the rotors though.
