Transmission-switching gears question
Transmission-switching gears question Sup guys. I've noticed that switching gears in this car isn't an instant change.
For me this happens when switching from reverse to drive. If im trying to back out of a parking spot it seems as though i have to wait like 1-2 sec for the car to switch in between the two gears before i hit the gas.
If the car has been running for a few hrs the gear switch sometimes takes even longer.
Another funky thing ive noticed is that, if i switch from reverse to drive all while my foot is on the brake...As soon as i switch to drive and moderately press the gas the car will bang into gear then start rolling. Again, this is b/c i have to wait those 1-2 sec for the change. If i wait then no bang, if i press gas even though gear selection is in D or R and do not wait it will bang.
Ive owned 2 other cars and the shifting seemed quicker. Ive done this before with my Camry. Never any banging into gear and the shifts were quicker. No waiting necessary.
Do you guys get the same thing with ur LS4 car?

mine are pretty quick. i also dont rush it and i wait for it to engage. however before my tranny crapped out i did notice that getting into reverse took a while sometimes. look through some threads there has been a bunch of talk about this lately.
I think everyone's tranny does it as a safety feature so there's no residual shock when shifting into a different gear like R or N. You could break some things if it was a sudden change.
Hey thanks guys....at least now i know that i shouldn't need to get it checked out. However i still am gonna put in the zzp shift kit to take care of the annoying 1-2 shift shudder.
