Default Coating of snow in my engine bay?

Ok we are having a big snow storm here in pa. could get 14 inches which is big for this area. i just came home from my gf. The snow coming down pretty heavy and its blowing also. I spent about an hour and 30 mins driving home and stop at my local dealer to pick up one of the overnight slips since i plan on dropping the car off this week.. Well i noticed some steam coming from the grill. Immediately i checked the temp and it was normal. So i opened the hood and holy crap, i mean there was snow almost everywhere. It was on the fuse box, on the engine cover, near the coollant tank, and the biggest thing that got me worries was there was snow coated on the K&N cone. I would like to say that this is my first time actually openng the hood during a snowstorm so if this is normal then ok, but man i mean in some spots there was a coating of snow and others there was nothing.. Should i put the stock airbox on next winter? Im just worried about the water.. If it wasnt dark i get a pic

if you have your filter oiled it should prevent small amounts of water getting in.. I don't drive my gxp in winter but i have driven my beater cavalier through 2 foot snow drifts, we have had atleast 5 feet of snow this year and never have had problem with my K&N filter on it

Wow that wierd. Your gonna get some snow in the engine bay but that sound excessive. Really i dont think u would have to worry about a little on the filter. It shouldnt be anyworse than driving a car in 100% humidity. Its not SUCKing straight water. Ifanything it would melt slowly just increasing the humidity of the incoming air in my opion. Plus oil and water dont mix like stealthV8 was saying so if there was actual water beeds they shouldn't penatrate the cotton gauze, just roll of the filter.

I remember jumping snow drifts in my 86' Cutlass Ciera. We got her stuck in 4 feet of snow and I had to grab a shovel and dig under the car to make it drop onto the ground. When I popped the hood we found that snow had basically was packed into all the nooks and crannies of the engine bay (between the radiator and engine, along side the alternator, everywhere). I just kinda dug the snow out of the engine and kept on cruisin'. But that car was a different story altogether, my friend once started it by accident after I drained the oil during an oil change (for like 20 seconds but come on now) and it still ran flawlessly!

Search my threads. I had water coming in from a hole in the wheel well. I used silicone to seal that hole. My thread has pictures.
