Oh wow, my apologies. I shouldnt drink and try to argue on tech lol

I was looking over my GMPP catalog and found there is a stage 3 upgrade forthe SS/SC cars Stage 1 Injectors and PCM callibration bumps power from 205 to 230hp. Stage 2 adds a smaller pulley and correct belt length to the Injectors and PCM upgrade. Power increases to 245 HP. Stage 3 is mostally for max power. As part of the PCM there is an adjustible rev limiter, Ability to run 100 octane fuel, and PCM designed to run a 50 shot of nos. Stage 3 premium fuel 248(3hp gain over stage 2...LOL) With 100 octane power is 260 plus 50 shot of N20 310hp.....

my buddy had the stage 3 kit on his cobalt ss/sc, the problem with the kit is you can't tune the new pcm so you're limited on power. The stage 2's done well and tuned with HP tuners are actually faster GMPP fails

Oshia, the ss/tc's don't gain 80 to 90 horses from a tune, they come with 260 from the factory, they can get to right around 290 to 295 with a good tune, you're thinking of the SS/SC's with 205 hp. The SS/TC's like most GM cars come with a MODEST tune from the factory and the cuts boost in the high RPM's to save engine wear, if you tune that out, horsepower goes way up DAMN GM protecting trannies and internals LOL

the TC cars are good for 290 with what GM offers, but as mentioned probably better off doing your own thing.

I was talking about the turbo. They put out 260 at the crank and that translates to maybe what 210 (quick guess) at the wheels. It was mentioned that they put down 300whp which would be a 90whp gain from a tune. Which (unless they are grossly underrated) would make be insane from a gain from a tune.

They should lose about 15% from the 260. So maybe dyno 220. Still, if what you say is true, 80hp from a tune is insane.

You guys have to remember that this ecotec is what GM is drag racing in the NHRA making over 1000 ponies with stock internals. This engine's very stout. For the record I'm pretty sure the NHRA engine is like a quad turbo/force as much air into the smallest hole possible kind of engine.

Yeah I know its turbo'd and all, but we must have a little more faith in our cars. Its not like that Owner of the cobalt has a complete built race motor here,..... LOL!!

I really don't care what one has modded on his/her Cobalt! I would still enjoy racing it!!

My Monte Vs Cobalt SS (Stage 2)
His 1st Gear pulled pretty darn good!! but after that it was pretty much a done deal. I have nothing but what you see in my sig!

makes it so bad I paddled toward the end!

The turbo cobalts were underrated. It's more like 240fwhp on a bone stock one. A good tune including upping the boost a bit and they have been seen to hit 290whp. There is a guy here who has a gp gxp and he raced this other dude here with a cobalt ss/tc, when they were both stock, and the cobalt won by almost 2 cars. Those things don't play around.

Well, the balt and I did one little run, and he didn't have a chance from the word go with me either, of course neither did the gxp for that matter, but for what they are, they are quick cars. Still think if I was going to pick between a turbo cobalt or a gp gxp, I think the grand prix hands down IMO.

Default 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged with a Magnaflow cat back.

If you look closely at this dyno graph you can see that it is color coded. The colors up on the graph correspond with the colors at the bottom for engine torque , engine power , air fuel ratio and boost .
Number 1 at the bottom of the graph is the modified tune that we added in, and number 2 is the original tune.

No they make about 240-250 on average to the tires stock. Doesnt take much to make the jump when you go from 15lbs of boost to ~21-22 A guy this weekend went 12.8X @ 113mph with tune, charge pipes, down pipe and cold air intake IIRC. My car which has almost the same mods (+ new FMIC) is pretty insane, definitely faster than my modded 07 GXP by far.

Our car is 3632 the Cobalt is 2975. So the gxp is 11.98 lbs per hp and the Cobalt is 11.44 lbs per hp. Fastest magazine time is 0-60 5.5 and 13.9@102.5 (I've also seen 0-60 5.7 14.0@104) and then this stock Cobalt SS/TC video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30UxICiLlss
2.17 60ft 13.66@104
Be minded again this is with less than 230hp and maybe 200ft lbs at the wheels. That's pretty impressive.
