How to remove fender vent insert on GXP

How to remove fender vent insert on GXP Has anyone removed their fender vent inserts? I was able to partially push one out from behind the fender, near the windshield, but I wanted some opinions on doing it correctly. I appreciate it.

There's two up top, push them down from under the rubber part of the cowl, then wedge it out a bit, then pop the side close to the door out, then pull the vent out. Don't know if that's 'correct' but that's how I done it.
