big props to jkksxy...he just wrapped my dp and did a phenomenal job on it...I can't believe I can actually grab my dp after running it hard! It has def made a HUGE impact on under the hood temp

 

I didnt soak it. Never heard of that trick.

 

when i looked up DEI they had a guy on youtube from one of those car shows showing how to put it on and he had measured, cut to length, soaked then applied it.

NOt a bad idea. i plan on rewrapping when i do some work withthe crossover pipe and exhaust manifold.

 

do you think the sealant is necassary even though its under the hood not really exposed to the elements?

 

It helps cut down on the smoking while the wrap gets broken in. My buddy used a light coat on his wrap and after a hard run, hen he pops the hood quite a bit of smoke comes off of the wrap. He soaked mine after he wrapped it and I have no smoke at all...just smells a little.

 

did you guys use 1'' or 2'' wrap and what length did you use when you did yours?

 

i bought the 2" i havent recieved it yet tho

 

The spray is a goo idea. actually. u still get water, sand, chemicals up in the engine bay.

 

Okay I have noticed alot of guys on here have some unanswered questions so here we go with the answers
1 why soak the wrap and is it nessecary...answer its to loosen uo the fibers so there more strechable and manuverable....is it necesary NOin some cases not soaking the wrap is actually better because the wrap tends to smoke more longer when soaked.
2 where do I buy the wrap at?....answer come to were I work Advance Auto Parts and pick it up rolls are 19.95 and 39.99 and 49.99
3 Do I have to use the hight temp sealer.....answer is no but i would say yes keep the wrap together over time and keeps it from unravling when it begins to harden,and it stops any smoking or smell of the exhaust ,and it keeps it even cooler and makes it full resisten to all elments so my answer woulod be yes you shpould always use it dont do things half do it right the first time.
4 were do i get the sealer....answer Advance Auto Parts
5 is titanium wqrap worth it....answer no not really but it is made with real volcano bits and thats cool to brag about right lol
6 how far do you wrap the pipe down....answer your call again as a warning the more heat you trap in the more long term damage will be done to the pipe so do it litely and only do a single layer wrap no more than that.
7 whats the best wrap out there?...answer dei for years theyve been the leader so why go with somethin cheaper that may be the same? dont half *** **** guys do it right and your car will thankyou!
8 what should I use to secure it?.....answer metal intake style clamps are the best ideas if you wrap it right then you should only need two to get the job done I would suggest doing a practice wrap to get a feel for the material have a freind help you this way when you get it done its done right not half assed were you wanna rip it apart and redo it.

finally got around to doin this today. it went pretty smooth for the most part. only a few bloody knuckles and cuts lol. i still have to spray the silicon sealer on it but i am waiting for it to dry since i soaked it in water before i put it on.

It looks good. I'm thinking about doing it to my car. Tell me something, is that a custom CAI I see there in the pic?

 

it is still breaking itself in but when i got back from a solid 30 minute drive that was 100+ at some points and rode it at about 4000 for a few miles it was smoking good and i could touch the crossover pipe. when i popped he hood i could tell there wasnt as much residual heat as there was before. for the cost and time i would recommend this mod.

 

U can deffinatly tell the differance before and after.

 

i can touch my manis and crossover now with the wrap. Granted for only a second but it would melt my hand off if i went near it before.

 

You're going to spend all day wrapping the rear manifold by the firewall. Let us know the total time it takes to do all of that when you do it.

 

I did the front, back and Xover but have not run it yet.
I did reuse the stock heat shields.
I will even do the down pipe and cat.
