2 quarts is about right. The accepted average oil consumption is typically 1 quart for every 3,000 miles. Mine seemed to eat more, but then again i do drive my ws6 pretty hard Just a tad bit off topic, most common mod to help aliviate the problem is the catch can. The best result seems to come from getting the pcv system to breathe. A combo of the two seems to be the best remedy.

My SS uses 1/2 a quart in about 7000 miles.

And before you all kill me on the oil change interval, understand that our car sees ALL highway miles (180 mile DAILY round-trip). We change it when the oil life monitor gets to 15%.

And we use Royal Purple.

anyone that kills you on the oil change interval is stupid because even using the oil life monitor, (like we should), at least for me, it's giving me at least 7000 mile oil change intervals. and I do about 90% city driving.

I used to change the oil every 3000 miles on this car, but the stuff I was draining was always real clean. So, I did some research on the oil life monitor and learned that the car knows best.

No point in needlessly throwing money at oil, especially at $8 or so a quart.

Especially when you are putting 2 qts every 3k miles. Should be pretty darn clean!

To stay on topic though, yea changing it every 3k miles doesn't need to happen. Just a way to sell more oil and make more $$. Just think, who says to do that? Not GM but every darn oil company tells you that you should (Valvoline, Mobil, etc). I used change my oil every 3k miles but that was when a qrt of oil was just over a buck.
