Default 2007 gxp

I am looking into buying a 2007 GXP here soon. Is there any ongoing problems or issues I need to be aware of?

I have seen some people mention the transmission and the brakes and rotors.

Thoughts?

Tranny, brake pads and rotors seem to be the mainstream issues.

36K miles, got it at 9K. All good, except for battery, front brake pads, and tires. Forgot to mention 08, lol.

08 GXP with almost 48k miles. Bought it with 16k & replaced the front pads/rotors at 32k with hawk pads & duracrap rotors and they've done great so far. Had the rear alignment fixed at about 32k as well as it ate the inside of the Bridgestones to ****, looks like I need to have it done again. Other than that, nothing to write home about luckily.

Well...not sure where your located but I am selling my 06. I am in NJ https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-...-prix-gxp.html

As said by previous members:
-Weak Battery
-Trans can only take so much
-Warping rotors

-Something not mentioned....Supposid weak steering rack

FYI-my battery was replaced, Whole powertrain covered for another 2 years(GM cert), Brand new pads and rotors, Steering rack replaced under warranty
Good luck with the search!

I have an 07 GXP with 36000 mi. I like my car...had to replace the rotors...had to get the steering thingy replaced...now I think I need a new axle. I do admit I beat my car pretty good and I see now that this isn't the car for that. So if you are going to be hard on the car then it probably isn't going to be a very good investment. These cars unfortunately need to be babied.

I like it b/c it has nice features...heads up display, heated leather seats, dual climate control, four doors, sunroof, XM radio, OnStar, plenty of trunk space, V8, plenty power, great stereo and its a heck of a sleeper.

Bad side: Fragile as hell!

If you want a TRUE performance car...sorry guys probably gonna get flamed for this....get a Hemi Charger or a G8 GT...they're much better platforms. Our cars=Bland Front Wheel Drive Crap Boxes!!

06 GXP, 50k, turbo, 6lb of boost, stock trans, not afraid to drive it. No major issues.

Me too. I was choosing between the GXP and a Top Banana R/T Daytona. The GXP was 4K cheaper. I also saw that car a week later, beat it 3 times from 25 and 40 mph rolls. And a few weeks back I saw it, or one like it, in the ditch. Rain>Idiot who can't drive... It was a nice car, though.

I retract my previous statement, if it looks good and it was maintained properly buy it.

I want to give you guy's props for tuboing your LS4's...that's some cool ****. I don't have the nerves to do that to my GP. If I turbo anything it will either be my 14 or my Buick...because I KNOW they can handle it.

Let me ask you a question:

Do you wish your car was a rear wheel drive w/ manual trans???

The main reason I bought my car was because there are too many damn Chargers on the road and the G8 was too expensive at the time. But performance and upgrade potential-wise...my dear GP GXP loses.

Now don't get me wrong, as I previously stated...I love my car, it's definately different. People don't even know what the hell it is...not very many people know that a GP even came with a V8. I'm not going to trade my car in for a Charger or anything...however, if I had to do it all over again I would get a RWD 4 door 300+HP car. The whole front wheel drive thing pisses me off....it didn't start pissing me off until I owned the car for a while though.

No, and yes. My right hand and left foot have been bored for almost 3 years now.

The whole RWD vs. FWD thing is all about personal opinion. Sure RWD is great for drifting, sliding, and wheelstands. But I didn't buy the GXP with that stuff in mind, I bought it to go straight. I'm sure once I get this one turbo'd and such, I'll look into another FC, Turbo II this time. But until then FWD is perfectly fine.

The turbo kit comes with a shift kit. Did you install it?
