I've had my GXP for not quite 2 weeks. I did look at a few Impalas. Personally, I need the four doors because it is still a family cruiser. And the fwd will be better than the rwd in the winter. Also, the G8 was out of my price range still...
Back on topic...
The Impala just seemed like that, an Impala. I would never have bought just a grand prix either. I was drawn to the GP due mostly to the styling. However, once I did more research, the GP had so much more to offer. Even in standard trim the GXP was what I wanted. To me it was a no brainer. No offense to any impala owner. You love your cars and to each his own. Personally, I'm a ford guy, this was just more practical for the time being than any other option I had. Also, it's giving me a chance to research and play with something new.
Basically, go with the GXP if you want an enthusiasts car. If you want to go straight and don't care about the other things, go with a mustang...er... impala. If you want 2 doors, well that's easy mustang or GTO.

if i wernt dead set on a g8 gt, id add a monte ss to the family only because we have a gxp already lol, only thing that really turns me off about the monte is the interior, its funny actually if you look at all the newer chevys vs pontiacs , the interior in the pontiac allways seems to be nicer or should i say not as plasticy as the chevy, aside from the z06 of course, anyone else agree, and yet pontiac goes out of business.....

Most of the Pontiacs are coming out of Australia (Yes I know not the LS4 cars), they're the "performance" brand...GM couldn't lose one of its major truck sellers by cutting chevy.

I don't think I'll buy another GM product again guys. I wanna a new 5.0 Mustang, cause it's going to kick the sh-t out of most daily drivers out there. and if its really going to be going for under 35K then GM is really screwed! 4 vave with VVT and direct port injection with elctric steering. plus it weighs under 4000lbs.
