Default Exhaust Question

My uncle gave me two magnaflow mufflers off of is 06 GTO, they are 2.5 in and out. I plan on cutting my stock ones off and just adapting them to the stock 2.25 pipe. Being a quarter inch bigger than the pipe would these be quieter than if i bought 2.25 in/out or would they sound about the same. Might be a dumb question but dont want to put them on to not have much of a difference.

I bet they'll sound about the same, maybe even a smidge louder since it's a quarter of an inch bigger inlet/outlet.

Thanks, I was just thinking that since my pipe was only 2.25 that there would be a smaller rate of exhaust going into the muffler which might cause less sound. Again this is all theoretical, you are probably right that it will be about the same. Thanks again

I agree that a 2.5" muffler would have a slightly louder/deeper sound than a 2.25" muffler - bigger almost always means louder
