New Battery and Painted engine cover Hi guys.. so today my battery died. I went and picked up an optima yellow top from advanced auto, and it came with 36 month warranty. The battery was a PITA
to install, but after about 5 hrs working on it in advanced autos parking lot (b/c it wouldnt jump) i finally got it in. I thought i would post some pics of it with my newly painted engine cover.

thanks guys....Yes thats the new battery in the pic.....and yhea that battery was the hardest battery ive ever had to replace on a car ever. But it finally got easier once i figured out how to unbolt and shift the the fuse box 
(boy did i feel like a dumb ***).. But i was happy in end the end b/c it was starting to get dark in the parking lot.LOLOL.

It didn't take 5 hours,maybe 45 minutes, but I knew about the fuse box having to be moved, however the fuse box did not move very much, it was restrained by the cables coming out of it, they were fairly tight. I had to use some prayer and pull harder on the box and cables then I liked to move it enough to get battery out. I tied a rope to loop on end of battery to get a better grip. It finally squeezed out sideways. I also had a tough time finding a replacement battery around here, no one had the size (size 34 I believe) I needed. I wound up putting in a different size, it was same battery terminal arrangement, higher amps, same width and length but a little shorter, which actually made it easier to put in.

the paint i used was RUSTOLEUM HIGH HEAT ENGINE ENAMEL (ford red).. first i wet sanded it and then i painted it. No primer, sticks good though. Im probably going to take both the cover and strut braces off and try to clear coat them before they start to chip.

Thanks guys. Yeah I think I used rustoleum but I guess I didnt sand the first time. That layer peeled then I sanded and re painted. Looks decent but I want to give it another shot. Painting is not a strong point for me. Getting better though. Yours looks professional. Soon as I seen that I was like gotta redo

hey MEL SS I never though about using VASELINE to cover the letters. Wish i would have thought of that. It took me about 3 to 4 hours to tape and cut the out lines of my letters with a razor blade, it was so time consuming.
