Default bigger exhaust

Hey everyone, when I had my resonator taking off last year I have notice they replaced it with smaller piping, looks like 2.25inch, so I'm wondering if I should change it to 3inch and leave the 2.5inch at the y pipe.

How does it sound to you Will?? If it sound good then just leave it and get a cutout. I plan on leaving ALL the exhaust stock and just putting in a cutout when I get my headers installed. I already have my cutout, just waiting to get them installed and tuned at the same time.

I like the sound, but its a smaller pipe were they took the resonator off, so instead of putting the 2.5" pipe on, I was thinking of 3" up to the Y.
I don't plan on putting a cutout on.

Had my car up on a hoist today. Had my res removed by a muffler shop when I first got it and it is indeed a smaller diameter (2.25) painted with rust inhibitor...?? lol. I am getting a 3 inch custom DP + 3 inch high flow Cat then sizing it back just before the res delete. So 3 -> 2.25 -> 2.5 = lol

Price:
High Flow Cat $100
Res Del $175 ( Got screwed )
DP with install $300

Total = $575

There isn't too much reason to do 3" to 2.25 to 2.5.

Think about blowing into a straw with the middle pinched. The gas has to be pushed out the entire length of the exhaust so the whole thing should be open.

you still wanna keep some back pressure. I honestly don't know how bad that would make it having the 2.25 in there, but since the gas vapors get smaller as they cool down may not notice a difference

i think that 3" to 2.25 to 2.5 is what he has now. hes replacing the center section so that is all 3" to the y that he has now thats 2.5.

i think if does get louder it wont be a hugely noticeable difference.

Ok I'm with you now.

That sounds like a good setup to me.

True. You do not want that 2.25 on there. single 3" or dual 2.5" minimum. The sound difference with be negligible, then again so will the power but every little bit helps.

I'm going to make sure they do a good job, I don't want my exhaust hanging low and hitting heat shields, 3" is a bigger pipe.
