Default Thinking about getting out :(

It's been five years, but getting on time to replace the GXP. With the demise of the G8, GM just doesn't offer anything that appeals to me any more.

So, I'll be shopping for an STI in July. Since it seems f'n winter lasts for 7 months of the year around here (yes, we got 12cm of snow last week) the all wheel drive will come in handy. It'll be nice to have a vehicle with aftermarket support for a change.

Crap, never even got the headers installed...

Hey man, When I lived in Wyoming, an STI seemed like the right choice, a foot and a half of snow in june... If I was going to stay there I would have gotten one. There awsome cars, so good luck!

Yeah, we should get together for a few brews. Work should slow down about June 11th, so if you're here after that....

STI's are amazingly fast!!!! The only thing i dont like about them is that hideous hood scoop but they are very nice cars. My next car im thinking of going with a Challenger R/T (i would like an SRT8 but the gas and price would put me 6 ft. deep) or a Daytona Charger R/T. G8's are nice but i cant find one for a good price where im at

I raced a STI last year on my vacation, he beat me off the line but I pulled one car length on him.

That will describe me for a bit. Haven't driven a stick since getting rid of the Daytona in 1992.

Scoop doesn't seem to stick out like a sore thumb on the 2010 models - more integrated onto the hood lines.

Can always lose the scoop and get a FMIC. There's a couple of "sleepers" around here that are debadged and scoop-less. You can still tell it's an STI though, but probably not at night on the road

I am switching to a 2011 Mustang GT when they are released in Canada. I have not dumped a penny into mods since I bought the GXP not worth it anymore.

I dont blame anyone getting out. Its not a car kind of car that can make everyone happy. It just has too many faults in it if you want performance. I really dont mind the FWD myself i know some of you might hate it. Theres just other cars out there with alot more potential.

Vector u have a point. The FWD is fine and everything but modding it is limited and costs hell of a lot for just minimum modifications. I should of done my research prior to getting the impala but the charger wasnt at the dealership anymore so i went with that. I should of waited but what can u do?

The problem is that these cars leave us wanting more. They are very good as is... Excellent daily drivers, and with a little tuning even more fun. I think once we get a intake manifold swap kit going, performance will be much improved. Combine this mod with a built trans and a simple cat back like M/F there will be no looking back. I honestly love his car more and more. Sometimes, I love to hate it!
Altough, I wouldn't mind a new 5.0.

I kind of wanna build a 90 LX notch back with a 6.0L 6spd

Still have fun driving the GXP. I'm so used to the torque steer that I don't really notice it much anymore. Understeer isn't a problem since I don't corner that aggressively.

But, it's about to hit 100k km (62k miles), and little **** is starting to bug me - dash lights burning out, headliner squeaks, dash rattles, paint chips...

Time to get something new to play with. The STI will be a good "mid life crisis" car.

I'm at 50k, and I know what you mean about stuff starting to bother you. This is how it goes with every car. I had a 02 LS Cavalier that I traded for a 04 XLT 4x4 ranger before my GXP. The cavalier had 18k when I traded it in, and the Ranger had 80K. I bought both brand new. I drive the snot out of my vehicles and I miss my Ranger the most, out of all of the cars and trucks I have owned. My Ranger, I just drove.. never really modded it and saved bucks! It needed tires, shocks and brakes and the clutch and slave cyl. were starting to take a dump. I did a bunch of wheeling with it and put 33's on it, so this is why it started to wear.(plus my ex g/f cheated on me in it, with her ex so, wow...) I have always owned and built hot cars so once my son was announced, I needed something with four doors that was sporty and fast.
I have always loved STI's. Mid 0-60's in the 4's and with some tweaking they can run low 12's or better. I've seen a few at the track.
Make sure you get a good deal on your GXP though. If not then keep it for a back up, man..
I was only offered 11K for mine and I was like **** you.... to the sales man and manager. They countered with 12 and I walked away feeling stupid. This is when I decided to add the rockers. Almost got a GT Mustang fellows almost...

Well, been test driving vehicles for a couple of weeks now. It's alternating between rain and ******* snow here today, so went over to the Subie dealer to test drive a couple of vehicles.

First up was a Legacy GT with the 2.5 turbo and six speed stick. Nice ride, nice power, fully loaded. After a 20 year break from owning a vehicle with a stick I suck at shifting, but at least didn't stall it.

Next up was a STI, sales guy was pretty cool, said no problem with hammering it - ended up bouncing off the rev limiter once or twice. Stranagely enough, it's not as much quicker than the Legacy as I expected - 40 more HP, but weighs 100lb more.

Inked a deal on a 2010 Subaru Legacy GT, it'll be sitting in the garage by Tuesday. Comes with Nav, STI short throw shifter, media hub, bluetooth, leather, sunroof...
