Congrats. We need someone here as a mod, thought about wanting to do it myself but didnt know how to go about it, so i just let it go. Although i think another wouldn't hurt. and i thought you said something about not being around as much anymore because of a new project? If so then why take on the responsibility? Just wondering, not trying to be a smartass.

The camaro's on the back burner. It's going to be a while before it goes anywhere. Just going to start collecting parts as I find deals on them. I'm still around. lol

Awhile a ago, back when Richie was the main mod in here, calls were made to name a new mod because Richie, an incredibly standup, knowledgeable guy, just didn't have the time to devote to moderating our section. Richie proposed a group of candidates that all older, original posting members in this section (IIRC, it was Buff, Lew, Kaz, and myself). Back when the LS4 section had 1 and half pages of content total...

We all took it as a compliment and modestly offered the job to the next guy. I remember voting for Lew just out of respect because I was the n00blet in those days. I'm pretty big into giving respect where it is due, so it felt natural to do so. Unfortunately, 90% of the older guys don't post anymore or don't post with the same frequency, and this section took a very different turn both ideologically and in its content. After some deliberation, we had a formal vote; Lew was elected to the mod position. IB (site owners) took notice of our vote, but informed us that we didn't need a mod due the relatively small percentage of traffic through the LS4 section compared to others on this site.

A series of events unfolded again about a year later, and the same four gentlemen were proposed to moderate the section. However this time around, the section had grown and we were all considered as potential moderators (giving the LS4 section more than one mod, like a lot of the sections on tech.) Again, this was killed somewhere along the chain of fruition by the site management, and the LS4 section was yet again without a mod. I may only be speaking for myself, but it left a poor impression on me, as if the site management didn't care about us enough to voice our concerns and problems. Isn't that what a forum should be, right? A place to voice praise, concern, and problems in a community of individuals with the same interests, no?

We voiced our concern, and nothing was done about it. I may come off as "butthurt" or a little "sour-grapes-ish" but I think its kinda humorous that some of the older guys get jumped for the mod job by a guy like yourself (nothing bad about you at all) that has only been around for less than a year. I'm not asking for the job at all, as I don't participate in here as much as I used to, I'm just trying to make a point about the direction of this section and unfortunately this site.

I'll repeat again, there's no ill will towards you; congrats on the job man. I think you are even-keeled and well suited to keep us on the straight and narrow.

/rant over.

I think another mod or two would be a benefit.

I wouldn't be too worried about the past, Nacho. Things didn't pan out in the past, now this is a step in the right direction, right?

Your post makes a lot of sense and I understand why you feel the way you do and probably rightfully so, but I think it was more of a right time, right place situation. I don't think whoever it was that decided to make AG a mod looked at things the way you did and even thought to consider appointing anyone else. Seems like AG ran unopposed for the position. The LS4 section is probably starting to take up enough space/bandwidth to show some attention to it.

Just my opinion.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I was completely unaware of the history. However, I did not ask for the job. I simply PM'd a few administrators and informed them that things were getting a little off topic in the section, and that we had no real moderator presence. I then told them that we had a situation unique to the board, i.e. a much more personal and relaxed atmosphere, and I thought it would be more beneficial to the members if one of our own was promoted to do the job. Period. I got a reply that asked if I would be willing to take on the responsibility, of course I'm in here all the time anyway so I figured why not. As you can see, it's not a leadership position but one of service. I really hope to help lead our section to areas of greater respect and productivity. Once again, I didn't mean to step on any toes or cross any lines, I hope there's no bad blood. I'm always open to any concerns, we're a community here.

I'm just glad to see somebody finally step up. And It only makes since to have the guy who races these cars for a living and isn't afraid to try new things be in charge. Again AlabamaGuy, congratulations! No hard feelings, and I hope others don't take your new responsibility personal. Rock on man.
