Default Wheel guys

Would an 8" wide wheel with 5.5" of backspacing and an offset of +27mm fit in the wheel well nicely or am I way off?

Stay within the 35-42 range to be safe. Granted, you're only talking about another 8mm, but I've never seen anyone (try to) get a +27 to fit.

Does width not have any bearing on recommended offset?

8mm is about equal to a 1/4" when converting to standard so it's not that minute

Try this handy calculator to help you out. According to this, you'll gain 12mm clearance on the inside part of the wheel, but it extends 38mm towards the fender.

Not happenin'!

But they stick way outside the fenders, right?

yeah, pic above is what we're trying to avoid with the offset being so low. realistically the lowest offset ive seen mounted is like a 30.

my wheels are 37 and i would have to say thats as far as i would want to go because its really close in the front to where if they were sticking out a little further it would be too much. im sure you could go further tho since every 8mm is a 1/4 in.

My 18x8.5's are 45 or 42 offset, fit perfectly in the wheel well.
