I just used Compnine to get some production numbers for how many GXPs were made total, but the numbers conflict.
Because Pontiac dropped the GT model in 2008, they stopped using the RPO code Z7U which meant "MODEL CONVERSION PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP" so no 2008s have that code.
But what gets me is... why are there more Grand Prixs with LS4s than the GXP code for 2006 and 2007?! Was there some sort of B4C police package (like Camaros) with Grand Prix? Or how could you order one with an LS4 without the GXP package???? That's like finding a Camaro with LS1 or LT1 RPO code and it not having Z28 or B4C.
According to Compnine's records, these are the production records for Grand Prixs with the GXP RPO code Z7U:
2005 -- 2,019
2006 -- 6,628
2007 -- 4,446
2008 -- 0
Also according to Compnine's records, these are the production records for Grand Prixs with LS4:
2005 -- 2,019
2006 -- 6,681
2007 -- 4,448
2008 -- 4,842

There're a few color inconsistencies, too. I figure it's not 100% correct, but close. Supposed on CGP there's production numbers straight from GM, and it's 4000 fewer.
EDIT: Supposed GM numbers
2005 Model Year: 2,019 Total GXPs built:
232 Galaxy Silver 12U
171 Bermuda Blue (Bleen) 26U
144 White 40U
646 Black 41U
_67 Sport Red 63U
488 Dark Cherry 77U
271 Medium Spiral Gray 88U
2006 Model Year: 5,586 Total GXPs built
2007 Model Year: 2,501 Total GXPs built
2008 Model Year: 4,783 Total GXPs built (Representing 7.4% of all Grand Prixs built; source, Susan Friel of GM)
Total GXPs produced (2005-2008): 14,889

Specific to 2006, since my car is a 2006...
These RPO codes were also only 6,628...
8JM COMPONENT RR LH COMPUTER SEL SUSP SUSP(8JM)
9JM COMPONENT RR RH - COMPUTER SEL SUSP SUSP(9JM)
That means those other LS4 non-Z7U cars have a different rear suspension...
EDIT: Thanks for that link JP, that might save me some work.

For 2006 and 2007, those color break downs that are short of the totals for LS4 you found... they correspond with the totals I posted above for Z7U.
The 9 missing for 2005 does not however. 2,019 cars have both Z7U and GXP.

Were Bilsteins not standard on GXPs or something? It says...
6DY COMPONENT FRT LH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (6DY) 3,040
7DY COMPONENT FRT RH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (7DY) 3,040
for my car.

The number for each of those should add up to 6,628 or 6,681, but I get what you're saying.
It's really too bad I didn't make that mistake. ![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
My assumption is that in 2006 they changed to a different suspension mid-year because all 2007 and all 2008 GXPs have 6DY and 7DY like my 2006 has. Zero 2005 GXPs have those codes.
