i dont know if we have covered this or not i cant find a post with this in it. but my headlights are flaking on the front and top. would i be able to wet sand it out then clear them? or is there an easier way to get rid of the flaking issue?

What do you mean "flaking"?? If it looks like it could be buffed out, wet sand it first then try to buff out the marks.

Yeah hawkins, the wife's gtp was doing exactly that. I popped them off and spent a ton of time with different grits of sandpaper and then recleared them. They look waaaaaay better. That is about all you can do to fix them. That or buy new ones.

I started out with 400 to get all of the flaking clear off of them. Then switched to 600, then 1500. Then cleaned them very well and got rid of any greasy fingerprints. I then hit them with a light coat of clear, let tack up, then hit with two medium coats of clear, then one nice wet coat. I let them dry overnight and then wetsanded them with 2000 grit and polished them up. They look way better.

By the way, remove the rubber gasket around the outside of the light. I didn't realize it was so easy to remove until i started sanding the second headlight.

Hey LuSe4, maybe you can do mine? Like Hawkins04's, mine are both foggy and my passenger side light is peeling as well.

Ha ha, no thanks. It really is pretty easy, though. It just takes a little time. Remember, it's just paint. It can always be removed and redone. The most important part is the prep!
