Default Looking for help, I may be retarded.

I am reading thread after thread of info, most of it is great info, but being as how I am only slightly educated on engine modification I dont follow some of the tech stuff...I have people to help me out with the actual fabricating and hands on work but I am looking for a little more straight forward (do this, then this, etc.) info on what I should do to my car and in what order to get the best consistant results.

Currently I have a CAI, and exhaust and have gotten a basic tune for the GXP...I have heard about top swaps for LS6 or LS1 or LS7...but dunno which is correct info, also I have heard alot on cam swaps...but again dont really know where to start....as it states in the title I may be a slight bit retarded because I dont really know where to go from here....where would be the next best place to go....if you have time to let me know what maybe the next 5 or 6 steps should be in my build it would be great help....I am just sure of one thing....I wanna go fast.

THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME OUT.

Headers or a catless downpipe should be next on your list, along with a quality dyno tune.

Headers by Doug Thorley
Catless downpipe by Hogan performance
Search tech for the nearest, reputable LSX tuner in your area. Stay away from canned mail tunes if you want to really benefit from it and ensure a quality tune.

No need for the DP if you go with headers, but act fast I think Doug Thorley is about out.

That's not the link for the headers!!!!! its a mistake, if you get headers and there is no need for the downpipe.

Heres the link, and BTW there still $649.99, not $960.00...call Nick at 1-800-347-8664

Ok so pretty much, If i get the Doug Thorley headers, I install them and from there, comes the rest of the undercar exhaust, the "downpipe" is built in? I htink thats what you are saying just clarifying.

you would just go to a custom exhaust shop and have them weld in the rest of your exhaust off of the headers. and go catless

Looks like you're on your way pretty good. If you need any info on local shops either myself or Rossko can help you out.

I'm getting ready to get my headers put on in the next week or two. Like Alabama guy said though, Thorley is either about out, or they were telling me that to get me to buy a set on the spot. And like you mentioned, there will be no need for a down pipe, the header runs almost all the way to the cat.

So, you have a cai, cat back, and a tune... The headers will be a good addition.
next if you go towards your intake you have a few options, you can look up zzp performance and get a direct replacement ported ls4 intake, or you can get the ls6 intake. Keep in mind though the ls6 intake will take some fab work, it's not a direct bolt on replacement.

Some other things you could do are 1.8 roller rockers, milled throttle body, or a truck one but i'm not sure which one...

Just follow this forum and you'll see a lot of stuff come out, more than what most people think.
And if you have any questions just ask them then. This forum is good about not flaming people for questions.
