Only people our age and younger are going to understand this. lmao

This whole thread reminds me of my snow drifting experience this past winter. Got the soul of a rally driver...

If that oil's got water in it and you're driving it, holla atcha bearings.

Water not found, oil might have felt ever so slightly watered down, but definitely no chocolate milkshake. I took photos but there is nothing special.

I have a wedding today so no time to upload them. Will do tomorrow.

Thanks,

John

I'd change it anyway. Especially if you think there's water in there.

x2

Checking the PCV tubes takes a couple seconds and is probably worth your time. If they look like they are full of a waxy oil and water emulsion, then clean them and check for blockages in the baffle.

Crazy flash flooding pic too, by the way!

Is that the 80/90? Never saw flooding there.

My car has gone through barrels in it's life. My OLM was at 73% when the low oil light came on last. Two quarts of oil are still cheaper than a new car, but that's the only gripe I have about it.

When I had a blown head gasket in an old car the dipstick looked like it had vaseline on it.

Any help on what tubes to check?

Thanks.

Installed the catch can so we will see what that nets me. Since the oil change Saturday Morning to today the car has not burned a noticeable amount of oil.

I have noticed that the car appears to not settle into the 600-650 rpm idle. Looks like about 750 or maybe 800..?

Sorry I don't have a scan tool to check it, and yes I realize the gauge is far from exact.

For comparison I got this from another local GXP driver:

I do remember the car idling a bit lower before...

Stupid stock PCV system is to blame. When i pulled my intake off the intake was saturated with oil and the intake ports in the head were also covered in oil! Took my heads to my machinist and he told me that my guides and seals were within spec.
Every 50K I add 1 qt. And every oil change I seafoam everything.

LOL, they guy I know right here was burning like crazy running full synthetic. Bitched at the dealer and now it doesn't burn. We are guessing they put in dino oil and some sort of additive to keep it from burning because in 1000 miles it hasn't burned any.

Yeah I know the PCV sucks, that is why I installed a catch can, but I also know that isn't to blame, as far as I can tell, because it was high before that.

I also have this mysterious whistle coming from the back side of the motor on the TB side. That could be something that has always been there as I do not spend too much time under the hood of my car while it is running.

I had been running Mobil 1 5-30 since the car was new. I changed to Pennzoil Platinum 5-30 at my last oil change, and have only had to add 1/2 qt. in the first 3000k miles. I would have used over a qt. of Mobil 1 by the same time in the past. I'm sticking with the Pennzoil.

The Syntec Blend I use has treated me well before this last time when the light came on 50 percent into the change. We will see how this goes...

The higher idle is my newest concern, though I probably need a scan tool to verify it is high as I would not consider the tach the most accurate piece of machinery.

I did check another way and my car cruises at 50 mph at or below 1500 rpm, just like it always has.

That is what I thought, now I have to find it... Appears to be emanating from the back of the motor. Though I am not sure what from yet. Going to give that a looksey over the weekend. It is too hot to be leaning over a hot motor.

I do not particularly know what has to do with vacuum back there so this will be an adventure!

If memory serves me right. There's one vacuum line behind the TB on the intake and a nipple that looks like it should have a vacuum line, but its blocked off. Double check your TB bolts (10mm wrench). If that's not it could be intake gasket.
