Cleaned my engine bay a bit and redesigned my display First time I've ever really made any effort to clean up the engine bay on my GXP. That engine sure is in there tight! It was only dusty, so all I used was tire shine on the rubber and plastic stuff and spray bottle full of water on the other stuff. Didn't use or need any cleaner. It sure is a shame our cars have an iron block instead of aluminum. That rust is really gross to see when you pop the hood, and it happens to be the ONLY area under the hood that isn't cramped! LOL
I guess you can tell I "missed a spot or two" but it looks good in person.

I tell ya what! That airbox is a pain!
This whole thing started because I wanted to check my air filter and see if it needed replacing. I've never been able to get the thing open before, so this time I unbolted the brace and finally had enough flexibility to open it! Getting it back in (unfortunately it looked brand new still after all that effort) was a pain in the butt. Took me about 10 minutes to shove the thing back in there!
Then I got annoyed at the dust and decided to spend 30 minutes cleaning everything up.

Very good when you have it clean its easier to keep it that way. Also we have and aluminum block
The LS4 is a smaller 5.3 L (5,328 cc/325.1 cu in) version of the Generation IV block. Though it has the same displacement as the Vortec 5300 LH6, it differs in that it has an aluminum block rather than an iron one and it uses the same cylinder head as the Generation III LS6 engine.
This engine is adapted for transverse front-wheel drive applications. According to GM, "The crankshaft is shortened 13 mm – 3 mm at the flywheel end and 10 mm at the accessory drive end – to reduce the length of the engine compared to the 6.0L. All accessories are driven by a single serpentine belt to save space. The water pump is mounted remotely with an elongated pump manifold that connects it to the coolant passages. Revised oil pan baffles, or windage trays, are incorporated into the LS4 to ensure that the oil sump stays loaded during high-g cornering." [8] Active Fuel Management is also used. Output of this version is 303 hp (226 kW)/300 hp on LaCrosse Super and 323 ft·lbf (438 N·m).
