Has any one had any luck with retaining re monsoon amp with a aftermarket radio?

I want to pick up one of the new pioneer units and didn't know if I could retain the stock amp

I have a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT nav head unit with stock monsoon speakers and amp. So far no problems and it sounds much better than the original head unit.

I have a Kenwood DNX7100 Nav unit, and I have to crank up my head units volume when watching DVD's to hear them i mean max it out. Its not right. Not sure if I installed it wrong or if its due to the AMP not working with this head unit. IDK.....

An same with my radio feature if i really want to crank up the tunes, its not even close to being as loud as it was with the factory radio. Its loud but not as loud.

I think i need an aftermarket Amp, or some one to look at my system whos a head unit installer whiz.....
