Default Flowmaster 10 series....

What are your opinions on fm 10 series on our ls4? to loud, to much drone, sounds great...what do you think? or is it better to go with 40's or 44's.

i think flowmasters dont sound very good on LS4's IMO, i would try - thrush welded mufflers, borla, magnaflow, maybe a dynomax bullet if you wanna get nasty. im just not a fan of flowmaster.

I left the resonator on and just lopped off the mufflers. It sounds good and isn't too loud.

Basically, Flowmasters sound like hammered ****. My favorite exhaust on the LS4 car was the Spintech mufflers in a custom 3" system I had. When I went with the catless DP, I installed a Dynomax bullet because I couldn't stand the rasp and lack of tone. When I sold the car, I had the Super 44s back on the car with the catless DP and I was reminded of how it sounded like a wounded truck/boat. Don't even think about the 10 series...will sound terrible the more the car is modded.

i like the way flowmasters sound. just not on ls4 cars. straight piped isnt loud as long as you have a cat and a resonator

Yup. Finally killed most of my rasp with a 3" system ran through a spintech and a dynomax bullet. Why even go with flowmaster when Spintech is the same price? Power and sound as opposed to the box of suck Flowmaster ships off to their customers.

You guy's seem to really stand by the 3in exhaust, did it help out with losing torque down low and did you guy's really feel it up top rather then going 2-1/2in?

I actually liked my 3" exhaust. A lot of internet mechanics on here said that I was "going to loose major power" and it would be flowing way too much for a bolt-on car. I was of the school of thought that the LS4 was majorly restricted and needed to breathe.

When I had the car tuned with a catless DP, the car totally woke up. Torque down low was just as snappy as stock (as if we need more power down low ) but higher in the RPM range the car breathed much better. I could actually race out of second gear at around 50-60 without having that dreaded 40-60 dead spot.

I think a muffler paired with some sort of resonator is the ticket on catless cats.
